It’s important to use proper safety equipment. Life vest should fit snug so you can be pulled back into raft by your shoulders if you fall out. Helmet is important so your head doesn’t get hurt if you fall out of raft.
It’s important to hydrate and use sunscreen on hot days. Do not bring your favorite water bottle on the boat because it has potential to become river booty. (river booty donations made to river, since things fall out of the raft)
You will use a paddle during your rafting trip the guide will guide you about how many strokes to make forward or backward through the rapid. So listening is important during a rafting trip.
The rapids can be rough.
There is potential of falling out of the raft. Try to grab the perimeter rope if you fall out of raft so you can stay close to the raft. Do not panic, get in downriver swimmers position if you find yourself floating down the river. (feet together going down river first to push off rocks, don’t swim against the current)
If you get cold easily you may want to bring a long sleeve and a beanie to prevent hypothermia. Also you could use a wet suit to stay warm on cold rafting days.
Rafting can be very fun with friends! I recommend people get together with groups of people to go rafting because it brings down the cost of the trip.
