Also known as Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, North Korea is one of the leading
countries in Asia in terms of industrialization. Pyongyang is its capital city. This country is less
populated. People here are very pleasant, warm and generous by nature. Their culture is
modernized with evolution of time, technology and thinking of people.
Both north as well as South Korean regions have developed economies but the field of
industrialization differs from one another. The northern region has developed vastly in areas
like metallurgy, garments, automobile industry, construction industry, power and energy sector
and banking. There are also other sectors like agriculture, mining, fishing and forestry which
contribute to the revenue in the country. Also, two other important industrial areas are food
processing industries and military products industries.
It is known that the country has vast reserves of mineral resources like coal, iron ore, graphite,
gold and many other rare minerals which are high valued. Thus, North Korea has a huge
business in metallurgy and mining. It exports products like copper, gold, lead, zinc, graphite,
iron ore and other processed products to various parts of world. They gave great business
relations with South Korea, China and India.
The military power of this country is very strong and it is known as “Korean People’s Army”.
They have 5 main sectors of defence which include ground force, air force, navy, special
operation forces and strategic operation forces. They have unique policies like the “Songun”
which prioritizes army in aspects like state affairs and allocation of natural resources.
They have highly advanced nuclear power plants and nuclear weapons. They have been
exporting missiles and military products to various parts of world like Pakistan, Egypt, Iran, UAE,
Vietnam, etc since 1990s.
It is believed that North Korea has been performing underground nuclear activities and missile
experiments which are creating international issues and conflicts. It is also believed that there
have been earthquakes and accidents which are caused due to the nuclear experiments by
North Korea. Thus, recently they have been receiving warnings from China and South Korea

Talking about the cultural aspects there, majority of the Koreans follow Confucianism,
Buddhism and Korean Shamanism. There is a small portion of the population who follow
Christianity and Cheondoism with evolution of time. A surprising fact is that more than half the
population is atheist. The rest follow the religions mentioned above. Another important fact
about North Korea is that it has the least number of human rights amongst the entire countries
in the world. The government there doesn’t allow Freedom of Speech to the citizens. Only the
press operated by the government is given the Freedom Of Speech. This kind of ideology is
because of the “Juche” system adopted by the people residing there.
North Korean region is a great place to visit. This place mainly attracts tourist from Europe,
China and many other Asian countries. The great places to visit include Juche Tower, Mount
Kumgang, Central Zoo, Baekdu Mountain, etc. Summers are a great time to visit because then
you can enjoy a moderate temperature there. Winters are long and even harsh sometimes.
