A Fuzzy DEMATEL- Trapezoidal Structure for Modeling Cause and Effect Relationships of Youth Violence

The Decision making trial and evaluation laboratory (DEMATEL) method is a powerful method for capturing the causal relationship between criteria and has been successfully applied to crisp situations. However, in many real life cases, the decision data of human judgments with preferences are often vague so that the traditional ways of using crisp values are inadequate. In this paper, the directed influential degrees between pair wise criteria are expressed in trapezoidal fuzzy numbers is used in DEMATEL method to study on youth violence. Violence is a problem which affects our day today life in a severe way. Even though human beings have been struggling to create civilized societies for many years, they have not able to get free from the influence of violence and aggression yet. Aggressiveness among youth is considered to be a global public health problem in many parts of the world. The existence of violence around a person might provoke him to behave in a more violent way. Additionally, the team is wrapping up the second year of evaluating two suicide prevention training programs through collecting and analyzing survey data. This data will help assess the effectiveness of the trainings and develop ideas for enhanced suicide prevention.

This study analyzes the technology innovation capabilities (TICs) evaluation factors of enterprises by applying the Decision Making Trial and Evaluation Laboratory (DEMATEL) method. Based on the literature reviews, six main perspectives and sixteen criteria were extracted and then validated by six experts. A questionnaire was constructed and answered by eleven experts. Then the DEMATEL method was applied to analyze the importance of criteria and the casual relations among the criteria were constructed. The result showed that the innovation management capability perspective was the most important perspective and influenced the remaining perspectives. This work also presents the significant criteria for each perspective.

Cyberbullying is a common byproduct of the digital revolution with serious consequences to victims. Unfortunately, there is a dearth of
empirically basedmethods to confront it. This study used social cognitive theory to design and test an interventionmessage aimed at persuading
college students to abstain from retaliation, seek social support, save evidence, and notify authorities—important victim responses identified
and recommended in previous research. Using a posttest-only control group design, this study tested the effectiveness of an intervention
message in changing college students’ perceived susceptibility to and perceived severity of cyberbullying as well as their self-efficacy, response
efficacy, attitudes, and behavioral intentions toward each recommended response in future episodes of cyberbullying. Results indicated that the
intervention message caused participants in the experimental condition to report significantly higher susceptibility, but not perceived severity, to
cyberbullying than those in the control condition. The intervention message also caused expected changes in all outcomes except self-efficacy
for not retaliating and in all outcomes for seeking social support, saving evidence, and notifying an authority. Implications for message design
and future research supporting evidence-based anti-cyberbullying health communication campaigns are discussed.
Cyberbullying is a serious public health concern (Centers for
Disease Control and Prevention, 2016). Emphasizing the
communicative aspect of cyberbullying, Roberto and Eden
(2010) defined it as the “deliberate and repeated misuse of
communication technology by an individual or group to
threaten or harm others” (p. 201). As a problem of modern
life, cyberbullying has garnered significant attention. The
general media initially recognized tragic cases of cyberbully-
ing-related suicides (e.g., Alvarez, 2013; BBC News, 2014;
Stelter, 2008). Scholarly work has since produced a relatively
large body of data highlighting the widespread dangerous
nature of the behavior (Kowalski, Giumetti, Schroeder, &
Lattanner, 2014).
Although most studies have focused on minors, cyberbullying
can occur from elementary school to college. Among adolescents,
cyberbullying victimization rates range from 20% to 40% (Moreno,
2014; Tokunaga, 2010). Studies of college students show similar
rates (Crosslin & Golman, 2014; Foody, Samara, & Carlbring,
2015; Zalaqu.

Take another look. is one of the current social problems that have flourished with the advancement in technology because many people have access to technology today repetitive of “current”. The technology has gone to both good and bad hands. In bad hands, technology has been used to orchestrate various criminal activities. Among the criminal activities facilitated by the technology is cyber bullying. Various studies have been conducted on cyber bullying. This paper highlights some of the arguments in these studies. Despite being an activity that came with the advancement in technology, cyber bullying has rapidly spread in the society and can now affect anybody wherever he or she is if he or she is accessible to the internet. Thesis? What will the essay argue?
A research V conducted by a Harford County Examiner revealed that half the population of teenagers is word form victims of cyber bullying and only 10% of the victims take a step to report the matter to their parents. Among the cyber bullying incidents, less than 20% of the incidents get reported to the law enforcement agencies. Approximately 20% of teenagers have photos of them taken while in embarrassing situations. It further revealed that girls are V often involved in cyber bullying than boys. The study therefore indicates that cyber bullying is V common in teenagers than any other age group. It further shows how parents distance themselves towards monitoring what their teenage children do on the internet how does it show that? The evidence about from the source don’t show that. Therefore, it can be concluded that inadequate parental consent is a major contributor to the high trends of cyber bullying (Thaxter, 2010). The information in this paragraph doesn’t support this conclusion.
In regard to this, Thaxter (2010) researched and wrote a journal article titled “Cyber bullying: Challenges and strategies faced by juvenile police officers.” In this article, the author claims that juvenile police officers are expected by the government to ensure the full enforcement of laws and regulations related to cyber bullying in a school classroom setting. This makes the officers to be outstanding educational reserve this sentence doesn’t make sense. This systematic review examines the relationship between social media use and depressive symptoms in children and adolescents. Eleven studies with a total sample of 12,646 young people were included. The analysis found a small but statistically significant correlation between greater social media use and higher rates of depressive symptoms. However, the studies varied widely in methods, sample sizes, and results, so the clinical significance of this relationship remains unclear. Over half the studies were cross-sectional, and longitudinal studies were of limited duration. Further research is needed using consistent variables and measurements.

Background of the Problem
Cyberbullying and school bullying have been identified as risk factors of social media. The penetration of the internet and the welcome of social networking have been welcome globally. Teens to elderly people are frequent users of social networking sites but there has been growing concern children and teenagers are adversely affected by social media and social networking sites. Cyber bullying, school bullying, depression, sexting, low self-esteem and low education attainment are common problems associated with social media and are believed to continually ruin the destiny of the teenagers and youths within the society. Experiences of the bullying have been on increase from the 1990s and chronic victims of the bullying and maltreatment of the students by their peers lead to poor academic performance (Juvonen, Wang & Espinoza, 2011). Therefore, considering the experiences of the bullying which is a common phenomenon in the society, this creates great concern for an investigation into this phenomenon by taking a narrower approach and in the current society, determine whether girls students whether are the victim of bullying and how they academically they are affected.
Statement of the Problem
Bullying is one of the problems that is associated with social media and social networking sites. From the reviewed literature, a study carried in 2014 revealed that 10-40% of teenagers reported having suffered from cyberbullying (Underwood & Ehrenreich, 2017). Further, low academic attainment, development of suicidal thoughts, depression, anxiety and stress are some of the effects associated with cyber-bullying. Cyber bullying has been on the increase in substituting old tradition and offline bullying. It is argued that cyberbullying reduces the concentration of the students hence resulting in poor academic performance (Farhangpour et al…., 2019). School bullying has been blamed for poor academic performance. There is little link between school bullying and cyber bullying yet it is important to evaluate and determine whether there link between two types of bullying.threateningAdditionally, bullying is very different across gender. In some studies, girls are said to be more bullied than boys (PC, & Madhavan, 2018). As a result of this, girls aged 13-14 years form the target population to better understand the nature of the relationship that exists between cyberbullying and school bullying and how both they influence academic performance.
Purpose of the Study
Cyber bullying and school bullying have been identified as a risk of social media. That being the case, there has been an increase in internet access exposing children and teenagers to more dangers of social networking sites. Schools have and are adopting e-learning and use of the technology creating a rich environmen.

ABSTRACT
Social media is a dissenting topic, especially today. Some people have had the view that social media ruins human interaction not to mention real life human relationships. On the other hand, in the era of everything instant, the idea of living has drastically changed. Initially, people held the idea that life is too hard but with the advancement in technology it has now become a saying that life is easy. All this is attributable to modern technology and equally important globalization, in the sense that people are becoming more independent and interconnected. Social media has changed the world as people used to know it in the sense that people can do everything in an interconnected world that enables instant communication. Some of the most popular social networking includes Facebook, and Twitter among others. Similarly, in this era of social networking people’s idea of reality has greatly changed and people handle such things as relationship differently. This being the case, the objective of this paper is to develop a final prospectus regarding the impacts of social media. Mainly, the paper will focus its attention on the impact of social media and some of the ways that can be used to define the controversy between social media and youths below the 23 years of age.
Impact of Social Media
As mentioned in the discussion, there are many social networks to choose from such as Twitter, Snapchat and Instagram among others. In understanding how social media impacts the youth, it is imperative to look at both the pros and cons of social media on the youth. Essentially social media has reduced the world in a global village which means youths can share and interact easily and instant. Conferring with Ahn (2011), addiction to social media has resulted to poor performance in leaning institutions. Many bright students have resorted to bad behaviours because of social media. Ideally, social media has captured the attention of youths to an extent of not focusing on studies. The issue of mobile phones in learning institutions has invited an endless debate currently. Teachers have complained that students are using phones to connect with their friends and families through such networking sites like Facebook. This idea of using phones in classrooms has deteriorated student performance.
Additionally, youth are so addicted to social media that they do not study at home. Normally, students are supposed to maintain impartiality between social media and studies. This obsession with social media is detrimental to the youth lives. It is estimated that 70% of the district school block have access to social network sites. The rationale behind this is that online communities allow youths to build social capital. Infulence of social media in developing social anxiety

Teaching strategies are compared for two years. i.e; 2013 and 2014. Moreover the research inferences the relevance of application of NCAAA standards in meeting Learning outcomes of any module for department of Computer Science, CCS, KKU. RESULTS: Comparison of question papers depict that now students are motivated to have deep learning in terms of understanding, solving, reasoning based questions as contrast to shallow learning (memorized questions) in the past. It is indeed improving Learning domains too (Knowledge, Cognitive, Interpersonal and Communication skills) more effectively than in the past. Also grade distribution is Normal with well-defined curve for 2014 as compared to 2013 having variation in Standard deviation too. Teacher centered learning lead to surface learning. After NCAA standards implementation, there is more focus on learned centered teaching. Design of learning assessments is in such a way that it should meet learning outcomes successfully. CONCLUSIONS: The research is contributing in flourishing the personality of the students to produce qualified graduates with excellence in communication, logically and technically capable enough to share their knowledge nationally and internationally with much more confidence at any platform. Also it is opening door for researchers to evaluate their performance with the help of SPSS in academics or anywhere where we want to gather.
BugLoc: Bug Localization in Multi Threaded Application via Graph Mining Approach
Detection of software bugs and its occurrences, repudiation and its root cause is a very difficult process in large multi threaded applications. It is a must for a software developer or software organization to identify bugs in their applications and to remove or overcome them. The application should be protected from malfunctioning. Many of the compilers and Integrated Development Environments are effectively identifying errors and bugs in applications while running or compiling, but they fail in detecting actual cause for the bugs in the running applications. The developer has to reframe or recreate the package with the new one without bugs. It is time consuming and effort is wasted in Software Development Life Cycle. There is a possibility to use graph mining techniques in detecting software bugs. But there are many problems in using graph mining techniques. Managing large graph data, processing nodes with links and processing subgraphs are the problems to be faced in graph mining approach. This paper presents a novel algorithm named BugLoc which is capable of detecting bugs from the multi threaded software application. The BugLoc uses object template to store graph data which reduces graph management complexities. It also uses substring analysis method in detecting frequent subgraphs. The BugLoc then analyses frequent subgraphs to detect exact location of the software bugs. The experimental results show that the algorithm is very efficient, accurate and scalable for large graph dataset.

This systematic review examines the relationship between social media use and depressive symptoms in children and adolescents. Eleven studies with a total sample of 12,646 young people were included. The analysis found a small but statistically significant correlation between greater social media use and higher rates of depressive symptoms. However, the studies varied widely in methods, sample sizes, and results, so the clinical significance of this relationship remains unclear. Over half the studies were cross-sectional, and longitudinal studies were of limited duration. Further research is needed using consistent variables and measurements.

Background of the Problem
Cyberbullying and school bullying have been identified as risk factors of social media. The penetration of the internet and the welcome of social networking have been welcome globally. Teens to elderly people are frequent users of social networking sites but there has been growing concern children and teenagers are adversely affected by social media and social networking sites. Cyber bullying, school bullying, depression, sexting, low self-esteem and low education attainment are common problems associated with social media and are believed to continually ruin the destiny of the teenagers and youths within the society. Experiences of the bullying have been on increase from the 1990s and chronic victims of the bullying and maltreatment of the students by their peers lead to poor academic performance (Juvonen, Wang & Espinoza, 2011). Therefore, considering the experiences of the bullying which is a common phenomenon in the society, this creates great concern for an investigation into this phenomenon by taking a narrower approach and in the current society, determine whether girls students whether are the victim of bullying and how they academically they are affected.
Statement of the Problem
Bullying is one of the problems that is associated with social media and social networking sites. From the reviewed literature, a study carried in 2014 revealed that 10-40% of teenagers reported having suffered from cyberbullying (Underwood & Ehrenreich, 2017). Further, low academic attainment, development of suicidal thoughts, depression, anxiety and stress are some of the effects associated with cyber-bullying. Cyber bullying has been on the increase in substituting old tradition and offline bullying. It is argued that cyberbullying reduces the concentration of the students hence resulting in poor academic performance (Farhangpour et al…., 2019). School bullying has been blamed for poor academic performance. There is little link between school bullying and cyber bullying yet it is important to evaluate and determine whether there link between two types of bullying.threateningAdditionally, bullying is very different across gender. In some studies, girls are said to be more bullied than boys (PC, & Madhavan, 2018). As a result of this, girls aged 13-14 years form the target population to better understand the nature of the relationship that exists between cyberbullying and school bullying and how both they influence academic performance.
Purpose of the Study
Cyber bullying and school bullying have been identified as a risk of social media. That being the case, there has been an increase in internet access exposing children and teenagers to more dangers of social networking sites. Schools have and are adopting e-learning and use of the technology creating a rich environmen.

ABSTRACT
Social media is a dissenting topic, especially today. Some people have had the view that social media ruins human interaction not to mention real life human relationships. On the other hand, in the era of everything instant, the idea of living has drastically changed. Initially, people held the idea that life is too hard but with the advancement in technology it has now become a saying that life is easy. All this is attributable to modern technology and equally important globalization, in the sense that people are becoming more independent and interconnected. Social media has changed the world as people used to know it in the sense that people can do everything in an interconnected world that enables instant communication. Some of the most popular social networking includes Facebook, and Twitter among others. Similarly, in this era of social networking people’s idea of reality has greatly changed and people handle such things as relationship differently. This being the case, the objective of this paper is to develop a final prospectus regarding the impacts of social media. Mainly, the paper will focus its attention on the impact of social media and some of the ways that can be used to define the controversy between social media and youths below the 23 years of age.
Impact of Social Media
As mentioned in the discussion, there are many social networks to choose from such as Twitter, Snapchat and Instagram among others. In understanding how social media impacts the youth, it is imperative to look at both the pros and cons of social media on the youth. Essentially social media has reduced the world in a global village which means youths can share and interact easily and instant. Conferring with Ahn (2011), addiction to social media has resulted to poor performance in leaning institutions. Many bright students have resorted to bad behaviours because of social media. Ideally, social media has captured the attention of youths to an extent of not focusing on studies. The issue of mobile phones in learning institutions has invited an endless debate currently. Teachers have complained that students are using phones to connect with their friends and families through such networking sites like Facebook. This idea of using phones in classrooms has deteriorated student performance.
Additionally, youth are so addicted to social media that they do not study at home. Normally, students are supposed to maintain impartiality between social media and studies. This obsession with social media is detrimental to the youth lives. It is estimated that 70% of the district school block have access to social network sites. The rationale behind this is that online communities allow youths to build social capital. Infulence of social media in developing social anxiety
This document summarizes a research study that examined the influence of social media on developing social anxiety among students at Kurukshetra University in India. The study involved surveying 50 postgraduate students about their social media usage and whether they experienced social anxiety. METHODS: Comparative analysis is done using course specification, syllabus, assessment method(Final Exam Question paper is taken as tool) and result statistics for the course of STATISTICAL PROGRAMMING (217 CSM), 3rd year (level 5 course) that is part of BCS curriculum in department of Computer Science, College of computer Science in King Khalid University. Teaching strategies are compared for two years. i.e; 2013 and 2014. Moreover the research inferences the relevance of application of NCAAA standards in meeting Learning outcomes of any module for department of Computer Science, CCS, KKU. RESULTS: Comparison of question papers depict that now students are motivated to have deep learning in terms of understanding, solving, reasoning based questions as contrast to shallow learning (memorized questions) in the past. It is indeed improving Learning domains too (Knowledge, Cognitive, Interpersonal and Communication skills) more effectively than in the past. Also grade distribution is Normal with well-defined curve for 2014 as compared to 2013 having variation in Standard deviation too. Teacher centered learning lead to surface learning. After NCAA standards implementation, there is more focus on learned centered teaching. Design of learning assessments is in such a way that it should meet learning outcomes successfully. CONCLUSIONS: The research is contributing in flourishing the personality of the students to produce qualified graduates with excellence in communication, logically and technically capable enough to share their knowledge nationally and internationally with much more confidence at any platform. Also it is opening door for researchers to evaluate their performance with the help of SPSS in academics or anywhere where we want to gather.
BugLoc: Bug Localization in Multi Threaded Application via Graph Mining Approach
Detection of software bugs and its occurrences, repudiation and its root cause is a very difficult process in large multi threaded applications. It is a must for a software developer or software organization to identify bugs in their applications and to remove or overcome them. The application should be protected from malfunctioning. Many of the compilers and Integrated Development Environments are effectively identifying errors and bugs in applications while running or compiling, but they fail in detecting actual cause for the bugs in the running applications. The developer has to reframe or recreate the package with the new one without bugs. It is time consuming and effort is wasted in Software Development Life Cycle. There is a possibility to use graph mining techniques in detecting software bugs. But there are many problems in using graph mining techniques. Managing large graph data, processing nodes with links and processing subgraphs are the problems to be faced in graph mining approach. This paper presents a novel algorithm named BugLoc which is capable of detecting bugs from the multi threaded software application. The BugLoc uses object template to store graph data which reduces graph management complexities. It also uses substring analysis method in detecting frequent subgraphs. The BugLoc then analyses frequent subgraphs to detect exact location of the software bugs. The experimental results show that the algorithm is very efficient, accurate and scalable for large graph dataset.

The detection of moving object is an important in many applications such as a vehicle identification in a traffic monitoring system,human detection in a crime branch.In this paper we identify a vehicle in a video sequence.This paper briefly explain the detection of moving vehicle in a video.We introduce a new algorithm BGS for idntifying vehicle in a video sequence. First, we differentiate the foreground from background in frames by learning the background. Then, the image is divided into many small nonoverlapped frames. The candidates of the vehicle part can be found from the frames if there is some change in gray level between the current image and the background. The extracted background subtraction method is used in subsequent analysis to detect a vehicle and classify moving vehicle.

This paper presents an implementation of one dimensional Burgers equation using implicit method with Intel Xeon Phi Coprocessor. In particular, we used MAGMA MIC library which is an open source high performance library for solving a systems of non-linear equations. Further for high performance computation we consider offload mode as the primary mode of operation for Intel Xeon phi coprocessor. The result obtained from implicit scheme is then compared with the exact values and it’s seen that the results obtained are approximate and reliable. The result table showed that the proposed scheme achieved higher performance on Intel MIC platform.

The earliest manifestation of diabetic cardiomyopathy is needed certain processes. The objective of the study is to examine the association of heart disease and diabetes. The relationship between diabetes and cardiovascular diseases are examined by taking into account of age, sex and associated diabetic and cardiovascular risk factors. The data are collected from patients with diabetes. From these data, features are selected by ant colony optimization and those selected features are given to hybrid PSO-LIBSVM to classify abnormal and normal data. This performance is evaluated using performance metrics and proved this classifiers efficiency for detection of Diabetic Cardiomyopathy.

Cryptography is important in communicating secured information that is vulnerable to distortion. The main goal of this paper is encrypting the small arbitrary length data without any changes in the length and data type. We propose a flexible arbitrary length small domain block cipher (FPESD). FPESD is based on AES Algorithm. The resulting cipher text is the same as input plaintext. Here, we use Galois finite field GF (28) and format preserving key to implement FPE. For decryption format preserving key is used along with cipher text and secret key.

Various techniques of data mining are applied on climate data to support weather forecasting, climate scientists, agriculture, vegetation, water resources and tourism. The aim of this paper is to provide a review report on various data mining techniques applied on weather data set in support of weather prediction and climate analysis.
Test Suite Reduction Based on Fault Detection with Cost Optimization
Test Suite Reduction is an optimization technique to identify the minimally sized subset of test cases with enforced constraints involved. The main purpose of test suite reduction is to deduce increased number of test cases that in turn increase the time and cost involved in execution. Fault Detection is the method of identifying the faults that affect the outcome of the system either logically or syntactically. This paper focuses on the reduction of the test suite that has high fault identification rates and also incurs low cost of execution of test cases. The proposed approach includes a new parameter Fault Detection Effectiveness to identify fault rates of test suite; an algorithm for test suite reduction based on priority of requirements; a low cost framework to identify the execution of test cases with minimum budget. Thus, the proposed work defines a test suite that has high fault detection effectiveness providing maximum coverage to requirements at minimum cost of execution.
Artifact Facet Ranking and It’s Applications
As the e-commerce is gaining popularity various customer surveys of objects are currently accessible on the Internet. These surveys are frequently disordered, prompting challenges in knowledge discovery and object assessment. This article proposes an object feature positioning skeleton, which consequently recognizes the critical features of an object from online customer surveys. The critical object features are recognized focused around two perceptions: 1) they are normally commented extensively by customers and 2) customer suppositions on the critical feature significantly impact their general assessments on the object. Specifically, given the customer surveys of an item, we first extract the object feature by a shallow reliance parser and focus customer suppositions on these features through an opinion characterizer. We then create a probabilistic object feature positioning calculation to identify the criticalness of perspectives by at the same time considering feature recurrence and the impact of customer opinion given to every feature over their general opinion. The experimental results on 3 popular products demonstrate the effectiveness of our approach.
Effectual Data Integrity Checking Technique Based on Number Theory
Cloud Computing makes data really mobile and a client can simply access a chosen cloud with any internet accessible device. The espousal and dispersion of Cloud computing are threatened by unresolved security issues that affect both the cloud provider and the cloud user. The integrity of data stored in the cloud is one of the challenges to be addressed before the novel storage model is applied widely. This paper analyses the efficiency issues and security dodge of an existing scheme and proposes an amended data integrity scheme using improved RSA and number theory based concept for cloud archive. This scheme of protecting the integrity of guest virtual machines can be agreed upon by both the cloud and the customer and can be incorporated in the service level agreement (SLA).Based onhypothetical analysis, we demonstrate that the proposedscheme has a provably safe and highly adroit dataintegrity inspection measure.
Micro-Neuro-Sensor Recording of STN Neurons of the Human Brain
What cause to the neurons of the human brain cells when they are damaged. They become inactive. So damage to subthalamiuc nucleus (STN) neurons of the human brain causing larger involuntary movements and thereby attacking the Parkinson’s disease (PD). Deep brain stimulation (DBS) of bilateral sub thalamic nuclei (STN) is an efficient method of rehabilitation technique in subjects with advanced idiopathic Parkinson’s (or Parkinson) disease. Accurate targeting of STN neurons and placement of microelectrodes/ (neurosensors) are paramount importance for optimal results after STN-DBS method.In this paper, microminiaturized electrode recordings (MER) of STN neurons were detected in a mean of 3.5 ±1.1 channels on right hemisphere and 3.6 ±1.04 on left hemisphere.Final channel selected were most commonly central seen in 42.3% followed by anterior in 33.7%. When a high current is delivered to STN or GPi neurons of basal ganglia (a component of human brain), causing their inhibition and improved indication of symptoms. It is now known that there is a significant change in the firing pattern and a reorganization of the entire basal ganglia circuit with DBS. The MER of STN neurons has identified a specific high frequency irregular larger amplitude firing patterns seen only in disease states and hence used to detect the neurons of ST nucleus during functional surgery. Microelectrode recording is so useful to confirm the right path but has to be taken in consideration with effects on macro stimulation.

The focus of this paper is to get a bird's eye view of the various factors that could be analyzed to present schools and governments timely indicators of school dropouts. With the help of EDM, one could have access to enormous amounts of data. The crux of the matter would be to identify the data in line with plans and ideas that would eventually lead to the formulation of policies that enhance the teaching and learning process.

This paper discuss about traditional and agile effort estimation model, and analysis done on how the metrics are used in estimation process. The paper also suggeststo use object point and use case point to improve accuracy of effort in agile software development.

When I was asked to give a companion lecture in support of ‘The Philosophy of Science’ (https://shorturl.at/4pUXz) I decided not to walk through the detail of the many methodologies in order of use. Instead, I chose to employ a long standing, and ongoing, scientific development as an exemplar. And so, I chose the ever evolving story of Thermodynamics as a scientific investigation at its best.
Conducted over a period of >200 years, Thermodynamics R&D, and application, benefitted from the highest levels of professionalism, collaboration, and technical thoroughness. New layers of application, methodology, and practice were made possible by the progressive advance of technology. In turn, this has seen measurement and modelling accuracy continually improved at a micro and macro level.
Perhaps most importantly, Thermodynamics rapidly became a primary tool in the advance of applied science/engineering/technology, spanning micro-tech, to aerospace and cosmology. I can think of no better a story to illustrate the breadth of scientific methodologies and applications at their best.
The debris of the ‘last major merger’ is dynamically young
The Milky Way’s (MW) inner stellar halo contains an [Fe/H]-rich component with highly eccentric orbits, often referred to as the
‘last major merger.’ Hypotheses for the origin of this component include Gaia-Sausage/Enceladus (GSE), where the progenitor
collided with the MW proto-disc 8–11 Gyr ago, and the Virgo Radial Merger (VRM), where the progenitor collided with the
MW disc within the last 3 Gyr. These two scenarios make different predictions about observable structure in local phase space,
because the morphology of debris depends on how long it has had to phase mix. The recently identified phase-space folds in Gaia
DR3 have positive caustic velocities, making them fundamentally different than the phase-mixed chevrons found in simulations
at late times. Roughly 20 per cent of the stars in the prograde local stellar halo are associated with the observed caustics. Based
on a simple phase-mixing model, the observed number of caustics are consistent with a merger that occurred 1–2 Gyr ago.
We also compare the observed phase-space distribution to FIRE-2 Latte simulations of GSE-like mergers, using a quantitative
measurement of phase mixing (2D causticality). The observed local phase-space distribution best matches the simulated data
1–2 Gyr after collision, and certainly not later than 3 Gyr. This is further evidence that the progenitor of the ‘last major merger’
did not collide with the MW proto-disc at early times, as is thought for the GSE, but instead collided with the MW disc within
the last few Gyr, consistent with the body of work surrounding the VRM.

Describing and Interpreting an Immersive Learning Case with the Immersion Cub...
Current descriptions of immersive learning cases are often difficult or impossible to compare. This is due to a myriad of different options on what details to include, which aspects are relevant, and on the descriptive approaches employed. Also, these aspects often combine very specific details with more general guidelines or indicate intents and rationales without clarifying their implementation. In this paper we provide a method to describe immersive learning cases that is structured to enable comparisons, yet flexible enough to allow researchers and practitioners to decide which aspects to include. This method leverages a taxonomy that classifies educational aspects at three levels (uses, practices, and strategies) and then utilizes two frameworks, the Immersive Learning Brain and the Immersion Cube, to enable a structured description and interpretation of immersive learning cases. The method is then demonstrated on a published immersive learning case on training for wind turbine maintenance using virtual reality. Applying the method results in a structured artifact, the Immersive Learning Case Sheet, that tags the case with its proximal uses, practices, and strategies, and refines the free text case description to ensure that matching details are included. This contribution is thus a case description method in support of future comparative research of immersive learning cases. We then discuss how the resulting description and interpretation can be leveraged to change immersion learning cases, by enriching them (considering low-effort changes or additions) or innovating (exploring more challenging avenues of transformation). The method holds significant promise to support better-grounded research in immersive learning.

Although Artemia has been known to man for centuries, its use as a food for the culture of larval organisms apparently began only in the 1930s, when several investigators found that it made an excellent food for newly hatched fish larvae (Litvinenko et al., 2023). As aquaculture developed in the 1960s and ‘70s, the use of Artemia also became more widespread, due both to its convenience and to its nutritional value for larval organisms (Arenas-Pardo et al., 2024). The fact that Artemia dormant cysts can be stored for long periods in cans, and then used as an off-the-shelf food requiring only 24 h of incubation makes them the most convenient, least labor-intensive, live food available for aquaculture (Sorgeloos & Roubach, 2021). The nutritional value of Artemia, especially for marine organisms, is not constant, but varies both geographically and temporally. During the last decade, however, both the causes of Artemia nutritional variability and methods to improve poorquality Artemia have been identified (Loufi et al., 2024).
Brine shrimp (Artemia spp.) are used in marine aquaculture worldwide. Annually, more than 2,000 metric tons of dry cysts are used for cultivation of fish, crustacean, and shellfish larva. Brine shrimp are important to aquaculture because newly hatched brine shrimp nauplii (larvae) provide a food source for many fish fry (Mozanzadeh et al., 2021). Culture and harvesting of brine shrimp eggs represents another aspect of the aquaculture industry. Nauplii and metanauplii of Artemia, commonly known as brine shrimp, play a crucial role in aquaculture due to their nutritional value and suitability as live feed for many aquatic species, particularly in larval stages (Sorgeloos & Roubach, 2021).
