My 9 shot analysis of the titles of the Number 23

1. 9 shot analysis – The Number 23.

2. Shot 1
This is the very first time we see the title of the film. This immediately creates a
sense of mystery and an enigma is created because we’re clueless as to what the
Number 23 means in relation to the film.

3. Shot 2
I chose this as the second shot because the writing of the title begins to slowly
disappear and seems to turn into blood. Straight away we’re given the idea that it’s a
film about violence or death.

4. Shot 3
I thought this was good as a third shot because it literally flashed on and then off so
we were curious as to why it was so brief.

5. Shot 4
I think this was a good shot to use because it states a fact about the plane crash with
people dying and the blood overrules the fact.

6. Shot 5
I think this is a very powerful shot for British people but also for anyone. The shot
still continues to show close ups of the blood and repeat the number 23 over and
over.

7. Shot 6
This is a particularly gory shot as it’s a fact about Hitler and blood is shooting over
him. There are still equations everywhere as well including the number 23.

8. Shot 7
This is quite a spooky fact as it happens to be this year they believe that happens.
Again, the camera flashes onto it then straight off it.

9. Shot 8
This is a very gory shot as the blood has overruled all the writing and it seems that’s
all it’s saying, death here there and everywhere. It seems to say there’s no clearness
anymore, almost like there’s no hope.

10. Shot 9
This is almost the very last shot of the titles so it’s rounding everything up into one
number and one shot. The number 23 is a darker, richer red than the actual
background so it seems to say it stands out. It created enigma and builds curiosity
within the audiences head.
