3. Frame 1
The first frame depicts that civilisation is in
utter chaos and that there are most likely
very few survivors. It seems this area was
abandoned a while ago due to the events.
The amount of cars shows how many
causalities there was, showing the
loneliness of the scene. A medium range
shot is used to show the amount of cars
there are and how devastating and
catastrophic the situation is in itself.
4. Frame 2
This second frame depicts the death of a
sheriff/policeman, it is most likely a
significant part to the story due to the nature
of the clip. The death of the
sheriff/policeman also shows that authority
was compromised and defeated and so
whatever killed them must have been
powerful. A close up shot is used to show
the importance of the object.
5. Frame 3
This third frame shows two arrows that have
been fired into a tree. This ‘implies’ that
people have fought over each other. The
way the text is placed underneath the arrow
is a technical editing skill adding to the
scene. This is a close up shot that is focused
on the arrows to show the disaster which is
unfolding.
6. Frame 4
This is a shot of a grave yard. This scene
hints at the aspect of death throughout the
series and how the environment surrounding
the series will involve lots of tragedies. This
shot is ‘medium range’ and doesn’t move to
show the consistency of deaths, and that it
keeps happening with the situation which
isn’t improving.
7. Frame 5
This intense, extreme close up of a
bloodshot eye seems to be what looks like
the enemy looking for prey while being
infected. A extreme close up shot is used to
make it intense for the audience to view and
express the true horrors of the situation.
8. Frame 6
This image could ‘potentially’ show the
origins of this lethal virus which is spreading,
being the starting place of this epidemic. The
place is dark and gloomy, showing that it has
somewhat of an evil aura surrounding it and
should be avoided. Things could potentially
be in there, the audience is unaware. This
frame is a long shot showing the
environment of this building.
9. Frame 7
This clip is giving us a quick look at where
the lucky survivors are, or where they are
located. It looks like this place recently
occupied people or still does because of the
shelter. It could potentially be a place where
these ‘zombies’ are hiding and waiting. This
shot is a medium/close shot as it wants to
show the weapon on the left, while showing
the surroundings on the right.
10. Frame 8
This shot shows a prison and could
subliminally be representing the fact that
there is ‘no escape’ from this lethal virus,
and everyone is destined to be infected from
it. It could also be linked to a main
characters past and could play a significant
role in the story. This is an extreme long shot
as it wants to illustrate the whole facility to
make it clear on what it is showing to the
audience.
11. Frame 9
This final frame is a still of the titles ‘The
Walking Dead’ – The bold font, shattered
font and dark background all helps illustrate
the narrative of this plot and gives the
audience a deep understanding of the genre
of the film.
