2. Style sheet
My colour scheme will be very natural to go with the lifestyle
theme. This is because most lifestyle magazines are natural
and neutral. I think my audience will really like these colour
themes as they are very aesthetic. I think the colour theme
which I am most likely to go for is the two with the star next to
it. I will go for this colour theme because it is the colour which
most colours in lifestyle magazines look like. They always
include the colour white as a lot of colours contrast against
this and stand out next to these colours. The weird looking
colours are done on Photoshop where I got images from York
and messed with the filter gallery and clicked the cut-out
settings. This gave me a realistic idea what colours will go
with my photography.

3. Style sheet These are the kind of font effect I would like to
include in my magazine. This would give a hint to the
audience about what genre the magazine is about
and what it may include. I think my audience will like
this font as it is very aesthetic. I spoke to a few of my
peers and they favoured the three fonts which have
arrows next to them. They liked these because they
thought it was good how the font matched the title of
the magazine. Also they felt it was very aesthetic and
fun. This made me feel as though my audience would
like the title and find it very eye-catching.

FRONT COVER
This was my first flat plan for my
front cover. I made this plan very
basic so it just had everything
which I would need to include in
my front cover, this included a
layout of where the cover lines
might go (depending on the image
which I use), a barcode, the
masthead and the date/issue
number/price. If I do use this as a
front cover I will make it look more
eye catching with bright colours
and more of a detailed image.

This was the second flat
plan for my front cover. I
wanted to make this flat
plan more exciting. To do
this I added the coffee
idea into my flat plan just
to test what it looked like
and if it would work in my
actual front cover.

11. Equipment/Props/Costume needed
Phone/Camera/Tripod- I need this to
take my photographs around York. I
am still unsure about which equipment
to use as there are no difference
between the two electrical equipment.
I am shooting outside locations and I
am unsure what the weather will be
like on the day. This is why I don’t see
the point of booking a camera if the
weather is really bad. If the weather is
good one morning or afternoon I can
just jump onto a bus with my phone
and take images.
I will need to use the editing software on
the computer and edit the images which I
would have taken by this time in my
production. I will use Photoshop,
InDesign, Premiere Pro as well as
wix.com. The software will help me make
my products as well. In Photoshop I will
edit any images which I have taken and I
want to add any cool effects to catch the
audiences attention. I will also create my
front cover of my magazine on
Photoshop. InDesign will be used for my
double page spreads. Premiere Pro will
be used for me to create my video advert
to go onto my website. My website will
be created on wix.com.
In my magazine I am not including any
models as I want to draw the focus on
what my actual magazine is about.
This means I don’t need any costumes
for my lifestyle magazine.
I also don’t need any props for my
production as I will have no models to
hold them. This makes it very easy in
my production period as I don’t have
to worry if someone is late as all I
need is myself and the technology to
take images.

13. Resources
I was very confused on which technology I should use to take
my photographs for my magazine. For my experiments I chose
to use my phone, this worked out very well but seen as though
this is my actual production I didn't want to make a mistake with
my photographs and waste time editing them on Photoshop. To
see what was best I decided to do a little experiment as part of
my planning, this consisted of using my phone camera VS a
Canon camera. Underneath, The 3 images are the ones from
my iPhone. The 4 up the side is from the camera. I could not
see the difference between the camera and my IPhone.

14. Pros
It is very convenient, after all I carry my
phone around most days, all I have to do is
click a button and the image has been taken.
Its fast, it saves time as if you see
something which you want to photography
by the time you set up your tripod and alter
the exposure the object which you try
photograph might of moved.
Its easy, on a real camera you might not
know a lot about the device- phones don’t
need any special training. If I was away from
college and the camera exposure was wrong
and I didn’t know how to fix it I would waste a
day as I wouldn't be able to use the camera
as the exposure was wrong whereas if I
used my phone everything is done
automatically.
On a phone I don’t need any other
equipment to carry round with me.
Pros and Cons IPhone camera.
Cons
They are limited, in certain lighting situations
the photo can be rubbish where as if I use a
camera I could change the exposure and fix it
manually.
Some phones have very poor quality,
depending on my phone some images can
come out with very poor quality and there is
nothing I could do about that where as on a
digital camera I could change the focus mode
and the iso settings to create a good quality
image.

15. Pros and Cons digital camera.
Cons
Equipment- If I use a digital camera and I want
the photo to look very professional and not
slanted I would have to carry a tripod around.
These can get rather heavy after while and it is
rather annoying to carry around the location
when I am taking photographs.
Harder to use- Some people find digital
cameras harder to use than a iPhone camera.
If I go out of college and something goes wrong
with the camera I would of basically wasted a
day taken rubbish photos. If the exposure was
wrong and I didn't check the camera I would of
taken many photos for nothing as they are too
rubbish to use for my project.
Slow- There is more time involved in
photographing on a digital camera, you will
have more steps to get the image which you
want. You have to alter the controls for the
location where you are locating your image,
you have to set up the tripod attach the camera
and then adjust the camera. You can take your
photo at this point then you have to redo these
steps each time you are at a different location.
Pros
Quality of the photos- With a digital camera
you can ensure a high quality photo. You can
adjust the focus and change the lighting on a
digital camera where a phone camera is
automatic and sometimes does not get a high
quality image.
Versatility- I can choose so many techniques
to create a professional image. Whether it is
too much lighting, low lighting.

16. Contingency Planning
Potential Issue Solution
Loosing a memory stick Always keep a Back up- I will send emails to myself
after each lesson so I know if my memory stick did
crash it would be backed up on my emails.
Bad weather when taking my photographs If the weather is really bad on one of the days when I
have planned to do my photography I would need to
rearrange to take the images on the day. If I use an
image which has bad weather it could give a negative
look on York.
If I use a camera and the memory stick is full. If the memory card is full use my phone to take the
images. This wouldn't make any difference as I have
already looked at the two techniques and they are very
similar.
Computer crashes/power cut Always save my work every10 minutes, if the computer
does crash or there is a power cut my work will be
saved from the lesson and I wont loose all my work I
would just have to redo my missing work
York is busy If all the places which I want to photograph are really
busy and I wont be able to get a clear shot without
people in my image I would have to come into York
another day and hope it isn't that busy then.
Photoshop/Premiere Pro/wix.com/ InDesign not
working when editing
If this occurs instead of wasting a day waiting for these
software's to start working I could improve/start writing
my articles.

17. Health and Safety
Potential Issue How will the issue be
avoided?
Eye Strain when editing the photos and writing the
articles.
Take breaks every 30 minutes and make sure if you do
get eye strain you lower the brightness on the screen.
Headaches when editing and writing articles. Ensure the computer is set appropriate- alter the
brightness/ change the angle of the computer screen.
Take breaks if necessary if headache is getting worse.
Drink water if needed.
Electrical Equipment Do not touch any equipment that looks faulty and report
it to my tutor or the technician. Avoid touching and
moving the computer. Keep drinks away from the
electrical equipment.
Aches and Pains when working on the computer Ensure workstation position is correct (if not it will lead
to discomfort as well as aches and pains). Take breaks
and walk around if the potential issue is getting worse.
Slips, trips and falls while using equipment/looking
through viewfinders
Ensure I am familiar with my surroundings. Any camera
movements should have a spotter for the camera
operator. If there is a problem the spotter will spot it
straight away.
Manual handing carrying equipment like tripods and the
camera
Do not carry/move equipment beyond your comfort
level. Never carry the camera on the tripod this could
lead to the camera falling off and hitting someone or
damage to the equipment.
