For each state, 2-6 facts are given about their populations, nicknames, mottos, industries, animals, or other distinguishing features.

 Texas’s population is 20,044,141.
 Their state animal is an armadillo.
 Their state dish is chili.
 2nd largest state.
 Nickname is the lone star state.
 Motto:”Don’t mess with
 Texas”

4. Hawaii
 Their motto is: “The land of the
perpetuated in righteousness”.
 Their nickname is the Aloha state.
 There is only 12 letters in their alphabet.
 Their the only state that grows coffee.
 From east to west Hawaii is the largest
state in the U.S.

5. New York
 NYC has over 722 miles of subway track.
 It has over 70,000 miles of streams and rivers.
 The first American chess tournament was
held in NYC in 1843.
 Dairying is NY’s most important farming
activity.
 The Genesee river is one of the few rivers that
runs North to South.
 Motto:”Excelsior”.

6. Alaska
 Alaska is the 49th state.
 They have 3 million lakes.
 24 hours and night and 24 hours of day.
 Alaska is 586,400 square miles big.
 29 volcanoes.

7. Florida
 Florida’s nickname is the sunshine state.
 Motto: “In God we trust”.
 Population is:15,982,378.
 Their state salt water mammal is the Porpoise
or Dolphin.
 State reptile is the alligator.

8. Colorado
 Population is 4,301,261.
 Major industries are:
agriculture, tourism, mining and more.
 Motto:”Nil sine Numine”.
 Nickname: colorful Colorado.
 State fossil: Stegosaurs(:.

9. South Dakota
Population is: 812,383.
Largest city is Sioux Falls.
South Dakota has 64 counties.
Motto: “Under god the people rule”.
State mammal is the coyote.

10. Rhode Island
 Rhode Island is 1,045 miles long.
 5 counties.
 Motto: “hope”.
 Nickname is Rhody Island or The ocean state.
 State shell is quahog.

11. New Jersey
 Population is 8,414,350.
 Motto: “Liberty and Prosperity”.
 State fruit is the blueberry.
 State mammal is the horse.
 Known for the show Jersey Shore.

12. Idaho
 Known for potatoes!
 Nickname is the gem state.
 Motto: “Esto perpetua”.
 State horse is the appaloosa.
 State butterfly is the Monarch King.
