- Spanish explorers first visited the area in
the 16th and 17th centuries.

to settle along the Brazos River in 1821.

Mexico’s Government and Texas Colonist,
which is known as the Texas Revolution.
- In 1845, Texas was admitted to the Union
as the 28th state.

Louisiana,New Mexico, and the Gulf of Mexico.
