Canada's involvement in East Asia has historically been overlooked in favor of focusing on its role in Europe and the Atlantic. However, Canada played a role in international bodies involved in decolonization efforts in East Asia after World War 2, including in Indochina, Korea, and Japan. This document aims to fill gaps in understanding Canada's role by examining its participation in the Far Eastern Commission and ongoing presence in the region, which informed post-war policies despite receiving little attention from conventional Canadian foreign relations scholarship.
