***THIS WILL BE A PRODUCT GRADE***

1) Pick a topic of interested to you and find a chemistry connection.
2) Research the topic—if you can’t find information, then switch topics. (And you must get your topic
    approved by MARCH 27TH- TUESDAY)
3) You will write a 3-5 page paper on your topic plus a title page plus your bibliography
(12-pt font, 1 in margins, Times New Roman font, the body of your paper should be double spaced)

least one of your sources must be a journal article or book other than a textbook. This means you will
have to go to a library or book store.
5) Write up an introduction (about one page) discussing the background of your topic.
6) Your must have a correctly formatted bibliography at the end of your report. (Minimum of four
references). See your English teacher for help with this or consult the MLA Handbook.
7) Every proposed fact, quote (or restated quote), data chart, graph and picture must be properly
    referenced.
8) Your report must include an introduction, a body of research information and a conclusion about what
you learned, as well as suggestions for future research and if appropriate what to you see as the future
    of your topic.)
9) Rough draft with at least 2 references (10 points- quiz grade) APRIL 13TH-Friday
10) Here is how you will be graded on final written paper (test grade) Due : April 30th to May 18th
Report is neatly displayed, double-spaced with appropriate size and style font, and contains
no spelling or grammatical errors. Also, you must have a title page (cover page) (20 points)
Report must have a correctly formatted bibliography. (10 points)
Report must include citations of everything that would require them. (5 points)
Introduction covers the background of your topic, is accurate, shows personal interest and
is about one page in length. (10 points)
Body of report is directly related to a chemistry topic and includes as much of the following
                if applicable: (20 points)
-Chemical names and/or formulas, chemical reactions and/or equations,
-Data tables, measurements with proper units,
                -Chemical history and/or application
-Information that relates to a specific chemistry topic or topics.
(Example: bonding, gases, nuclear chemistry, organic chemistry, etc.)
Conclusion should sum up what you have learned (not just restate your
introduction) and include suggestions for future work in/on the topic (10 points)
11) Presentation (EXTRA CREDIT 10 pts)
Clear and easy to understand. This means we should be able to hear you.
Accuracy of your information presented via a couple of PowerPoint slides or computer method
(Smart Notebook, Glogster, Photo Story) (5 points)
4-5 minutes presentation and 1 minute for questions (5 points)
Cover all the pertinent information of your topic (within reason) (5 points)
