The Yokuts lived in the southwest part of California and had a dry climate. They relied heavily on oak trees for food, shelter, and tools. The Yokuts ate acorns and other nuts, seeds, roots, fish, and game. Men hunted while women gathered food and used stone tools to process acorns. They built round or cone-shaped houses from local materials like willow poles, mats, and oak wood.
