The transmission system transmits power from the engine's crankshaft to the driving wheels. It consists of several components that work together to smoothly and efficiently transfer the rotary motion from the engine to the wheels. The transmission system converts the reciprocating motion of the pistons into rotational motion, allows the driver to control engagement and disengagement from the engine via the clutch, and uses gearing to gradually adjust the speed and torque delivered to the wheels for different driving conditions.

4. • The internal combustion engine generates power which is transmitted to the
road wheels. The output from the engine is available in the form of rotation of
the crankshaft. This rotary motion is transmitted to the road wheels
• The friction between the road and the surface of the wheel makes possible the
movement of the automobile. Transmission system performs this function
• The automobile transmission system consists of several components. These
components work together to transmit the rotary motion at the crankshaft
smoothly and efficiently to the road wheels.
• A sudden change of state, from rest to motion or vice versa is not desirable. It
may be uncomfortable, or even dangerous, to the occupants of the automobile.
Therefore, the rotary motion of crankshaft should be transmitted gradually and
not suddenly.

6. Working principle of transmission system
• Power produced by engine is converted into reciprocating motion of the
piston.
• Reciprocating motion is converted into rotary motion of crank shaft using
connecting Road.
• Rotary motion is transmitted to flywheel attached to crank shaft at output.
• When the clutch pedal is pressed, the hydraulic pressure from the clutch
reservoir forces the pressure plate to move against the rotating flywheel.
When the pressure plate moves away from the clutch plate, the power from
the engine gets disconnected.

7. • When clutch Pedal is released, the pressure plate moves towards the clutch
plate, And power from the engine gets connected.
• Now the power from fly wheel transfers to the gearbox input shaft using the
clutching mechanism.
• The motion obtained at the gearbox output shaft through different gearing
arrangements is then transferred to the differential.
• From the differential, power is transmitted finally to both the road wheels
according to the speed requirements.
