Pyramids were large stone structures built in ancient Egypt to serve as tombs for pharaohs. The largest pyramids are located at Giza, including the Great Pyramid of Giza which took 23 years to build as the tomb of Pharaoh Khufu. While pyramids are no longer used as tombs today, they continue to attract tourists and be studied by archaeologists to learn more about ancient Egyptian civilization.
