The Market Ibadan Business Festival
was created to bring together
business owners and firms from
different part of the city to interact,
sell, evaluate and relate with their
customers amidst funfair. MIBF was to
serve several purposes which are to
resuscitate the old market day system
as well as promote culture, discuss
innovation and develop the city’s
commerce. We also included a
children connect day to bridge the
gap between the adults and the
children in terms of culture and then
trade.
Ibadan is gradu ally rising back to the
level of being called a commercial
city and we will continue to provide
solutions to ensure and promote
sustainable development in areas of
commerce and culture.
Habeeb Kolade
Creator/Marketing Communications Director, MIBF ‘14
The ability to dream and vision is a skill given to all but its
implementation is where the story takes a little shift.
Truth be told what MIBF stands for is a significance of the
average Nigerian youths who believes that with the little
they have, they can make a unique change and
transformation syncing the government ideologies,
business and entrepreneur, trade and commerce, youth
development, skill acquisition and child support into a
simple culture.
Today after the hurdles and thorns in different area s we
have been able to set our dreams in motion, learning
from our practical experience, defying the odds and
daring to do rather than watch. This relentless effort has
paid off as we announce the completion of the Maiden
edition of the Market Ibadan Busin ess Festival tagged
the drums of fortune.
For me the simple sentence “charity begins at home” is
a living truth, for with nothing we did something in our
society, believing that the change we seek begins from
us and the little crippling steps we take in our own home
can create a scaffold at the very end.
The impute of every team mate from when we were
short staffed to when we formed a whole cannot be
over emphasized, the will and zeal to continue when
realistically we should have come to a stop is a stren gth
I can only appreciate and attribute to God his
awesomeness for putting such dreams and vision in our
hearts.
For those that supported financially and our corporate
sponsors we appreciate such generosity, it was indeed a
fuel to our rusted wheels.
UGO Nwaokike
Director, Ivory Connect/ MIBF ’14

Ibadan was once the commercial

seen in the city. However, it has begun
regaining its glory as new structures
are now being put in place to ensure
that the city rises back to the top.
The largest city in West Africa has
great hospitality and is home to both

MIBF ‘2015
The Market Ibadan Business Festival 2014 was great
and the MIBF Squad would not stop at that.
The Market Ibadan Business Festival 2015 would be
greater, much more fun and better planned for and
would go beyond the gates of the University of
Ibadan walls and we move to explore the city.
With similarities with other festivals in other states like
the Calabar Festival, Lagos Heritage Festival and
several others, Market Ibadan Business Festival has a
lot of difference and is targeted towards improving
the economic status of the city of Ibadan as well as
reawaken the cultural awareness of its indigenes and
preserve it in everybody’s memories. We hope to be
able to invite international markets and cultures as
well as include several adaptations from some
festivals and business fair across the world.
MIBF 2015 promises to be one of the biggest events
of the year 2015 and may even topple the elections
as one of the most memorable events of the year.
With this team at the helm of affairs, doubting that
claim would be at anyone’s peril.
Watch out for the best,

FROM THE STUDENTS’
UNION GENERAL
SECRETARY
The Students’ Union was excited to partake in the
Market Ibadan Business Festival, an incredible and
commendable innovation which came from the
students of the University of Ibadan, the first and
the best. It was a laudable attempt of promoting
African culture and commerce in the most
dynamic way and in a good fashion that brings
the market days of old into memory.
Gradually, we can begin to see that students are
now willing to fill the lacuna in our society with their
efforts of the university which serves as the
mitochondria of the community at large. Our
fathers would be proud to have invested their
cocoa money into building an institution that
builds youth to provide solutions to societal
problems and also produce innovation that can
only move this nation forward.
Without much ado, we hope to continue to see
laudable acts by students of this university and the
Students’ Union can move from solving immediate
needs of students to proposing progressive
change through entrepreneurship and societal
involvement to the society at large.
I am proud to have been part of this.
Akinbuluma Ayokanmi
General Secretary
Students’ Union, University of Ibadan.
APPRECIATION
Special Appreciations go the University of Ibadan for its
concerted effort in ensuring the success of this event. We offer
sincere gratitude to the University of Ibadan Students’ Union
that actively supported the project especially in terms of
logistics and advocacy. We offer special thanks to friends and
families of the team who stood by us throughout the rigours of
our planning and execution.
The MIBF team also offers gratitude to those who believed in us
and offered their support either in terms of donations,
sponsorship or in others ways that are unquantifiable. We
thank you for making the great dream a reality.
With you, our wheel of progress will keep rolling on and you
can only expect the very best in the next edition of the Market
Ibadan Business Festival.
May the drums of fortune continue to beat in our homes and
hearts.
