Conservation of the Urban Heritage to Conserve the Sense of Place, a Case Stu...drboon
The sense of place can only be achieved if the urban heritage is still intact and preserved whilst accommodating for new development. In the past Misurata city center where the traditional areas and historical significance are located did not have any positive consideration and appreciation from government which, were destroyed to build a new commercial buildings within business district area of city center. This paper intends to highlight on urban heritage "historical significance & activity pattern" that still survive in the city center of Misurata and reflects the sense of place. The study adapted the visual survey field method for data collection and this approach adopted techniques namely photograph and diagrams or maps. The results of the study indicate that there are some urban areas and buildings with historical or traditional significance and conducive sense of belonging and identity that must be renewed, restored, reused and conserved; for instance the marketplace, Allfah Square and the old city center.

Decoding and Revisiting the National Policy on Heritage conservationJIT KUMAR GUPTA
National Policy for the Heritage Conservation and Management of the protected Ancient Monuments, Archaeological Sites and Remains , has been framed in the year 2014, by the Ministry of Culture in the Department of Archeological Survey of India. Archaeological Department, being the premier and apex agency entrusted with the task of managing valuable heritage, is primarily involved and engaged in performing two basic functions namely; conservation and investigation. National Heritage Policy remains limited in scope, intent and contents, in the sense that it addresses issues and options involving only conservation and management of Monuments and Archaeological sites. It does not include and addresses issues and options related to the conservation and management of natural and cultural intangible heritage. National policy needs to reviewed , revised and redefined to make it more effective and efficient and
more productive.

Kubernetes & AI - Beauty and the Beast !?! @KCD Istanbul 2024Tobias Schneck
As AI technology is pushing into IT I was wondering myself, as an “infrastructure container kubernetes guy”, how get this fancy AI technology get managed from an infrastructure operational view? Is it possible to apply our lovely cloud native principals as well? What benefit’s both technologies could bring to each other?
Let me take this questions and provide you a short journey through existing deployment models and use cases for AI software. On practical examples, we discuss what cloud/on-premise strategy we may need for applying it to our own infrastructure to get it to work from an enterprise perspective. I want to give an overview about infrastructure requirements and technologies, what could be beneficial or limiting your AI use cases in an enterprise environment. An interactive Demo will give you some insides, what approaches I got already working for real.

Call for Papers-ENGLISH: 3rd ARCHITECTURAL CONSERVATION CONFERENCE
1. 3rd International Architectural Conservation
Conference & Exhibition
December 17-19, 2012
Introduction:
We live in a world that is continuously changing. These changes touch every aspect of our lives,
affecting our environment and the cities we live in as well as influencing our perception and
attitudes towards our own culture. Changes ha ve also shaped our approaches and practices of
conserving our historical monuments, urban fabric and our cultural landscape.
The present day concept of conservation of cultural heritage is a result of the process related to
the development of contemporary society, its values and its requirements. Our understanding of
cultural heritage is based on our scientific approaches and appreciation of documented human
achievement over time. It necessitates use of "critical judgment" aiming at the identification of the
object in its specific characteristic, the definition and the illustration of the particular values or the
significance that distinguish it and justify its safeguarding. This broad understanding in today's
society has led us to include and accept approaches that were previously rejected, as long as these
approaches contribute to maintaining the cultural significance. Today the term cultural resource is
a result of this evolution, and repair, maintenance, conservation and reconstruction are all
considered familiar approaches.
The main aim of this conference is to learn more about the notion of dynamic change in the
concept of conservation of cultural heritage and how this change is managed in our current day
practices and attitudes. Can we accept change as a positive impact? How do we mange it? Are we
able to direct change? What can we do as professionals, practitioners, and decision makers to
ensure continuity of tradition? How can we set our priorities to manage our historic
environments?
2. Aims:
