This document discusses trends in neural networks in 2020. It specifically discusses the inversion of magnetic anomalies due to 2-D cylindrical structures using an artificial neural network. The neural network inversion is able to extract parameters of subsurface targets like depth, magnetic field inclination, and an intensity parameter. The method is demonstrated on theoretical and real field data, showing accurate results even with noise. When applied to a vertical magnetic anomaly field data from India, it produced parameters that matched well with measured data and other inversion techniques.

The cuckoo search algorithm is a recently developed meta-heuristic optimization algorithm, which is suitable for solving optimization problems. To enhance the accuracy and convergence rate of this algorithm, an improved cuckoo search algorithm is proposed in this paper. Normally, the parameters of the cuckoo search are kept constant. This may lead to decreasing the efficiency of the algorithm. To cope with this issue, a proper strategy for tuning the cuckoo search parameters is presented. Then, it is employed for training feedforward neural networks for two benchmark classification problems. Finally, the performance of the proposed algorithm is compared with that of the standard cuckoo search. Simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.

Advances in wireless sensor network (WSN) technology has provided the availability of small and low-cost sensor nodes with capability of sensing various types of physical and environmental conditions, data processing, and wireless communication. Variety of sensing capabilities results in profusion of application areas. However, the characteristics of wireless sensor networks require more effective methods for data forwarding and processing. In WSN, the sensor nodes have a limited transmission range, and their processing and storage capabilities as well as their energy resources are also limited. Routing protocols for wireless sensor networks are responsible for maintaining the routes in the network and have to ensure reliable multi-hop communication under these conditions. In this paper, we give a survey of routing protocols for Wireless Sensor Network and compare their strengths and limitations.
This document summarizes a research paper that proposes a new routing protocol for wireless sensor networks called Gaussian LEACH. The paper begins with an introduction to wireless sensor networks and discusses challenges like limited battery life. It then reviews the existing LEACH routing protocol and some of its variations presented in other papers. The paper proposes Gaussian LEACH, which differs from LEACH in that it uses a Gaussian distribution, rather than a uniform distribution, to generate random numbers for electing cluster heads. The paper describes the system model, energy model, and details of the proposed Gaussian LEACH protocol. It then discusses the simulation strategy used to compare Gaussian LEACH to LEACH and presents results showing that Gaussian LEACH improves network lifetime under various node densities and

This document summarizes an article from the International Journal of Electronics and Communication Engineering & Technology. The article proposes a new routing protocol called S-LEACH for wireless sensor networks. S-LEACH aims to maintain a desired number of cluster heads during each routing round to improve network lifetime. It does this through a sequential selection approach for electing cluster heads, as opposed to the probabilistic approaches used in other protocols like LEACH, LDCHS and ALEACH. The document provides background on these existing protocols and describes the system model and energy model considered in the research. It then outlines the S-LEACH protocol and discusses the simulation and results which show it outperforms the other protocols.

TOP 10 AD HOC NETWORKS PAPERS: RECOMMENDED READING – NETWORK RESEARCHIJCNCJournal
This document discusses several papers related to ad hoc networks. The first paper analyzed examines the impact of different mobility models on the performance of multi-path routing algorithms in mobile ad hoc networks. It finds that the Gauss-Markov mobility model yields the fewest number of paths but the longest lifetime per path, while the Random Direction model yields the shortest lifetime but more paths. The second paper proposes a distributed trust-based clustering framework to improve security in ad hoc networks by evaluating node trustworthiness without a central authority. It uses evidence theory and recommendations to calculate direct trust ratings. The third paper discusses a proactive load-aware gateway discovery scheme for internet connectivity in ad hoc networks that considers interface queue sizes in addition to hop count.

This document summarizes a research paper that proposes a technique to improve the detection of false report attacks in wireless sensor networks (WSNs) using machine learning and a neural network. The technique evaluates report information gathered from base stations to identify invalid data and detect false report attacks, even when MAC information is compromised. This is an improvement over existing security protocols that rely on MAC-dependent validation, which cannot defend against extreme false report attacks. The proposed method uses a machine learning-based prediction model and evaluation function to verify false report attacks based on analyzing reports from the base station. This intelligent approach aims to help WSNs better defend against evolving attacks.

𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐍𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐁𝐨𝐭𝐡 𝐇𝐚𝐫𝐝 & 𝐒𝐨𝐟𝐭 𝐒𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐓𝐡𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞 💯
In today's dynamic and competitive market, a well-rounded skillset is no longer a luxury - it's a necessity.
While technical expertise (hard skills) is crucial for getting your foot in the door, it's the combination of hard and soft skills that propels you towards long-term success and career advancement. ✨
Think of it like this: Imagine a highly skilled carpenter with a masterful understanding of woodworking (hard skills). But if they struggle to communicate effectively with clients, collaborate with builders, or adapt to project changes (soft skills), their true potential remains untapped. 😐
The synergy between hard and soft skills is what creates true value in the workplace. Strong communication allows you to clearly articulate your technical expertise, while problem-solving skills help you navigate complex challenges alongside your team. 💫
By actively developing both sets of skills, you position yourself as a well-rounded professional who can not only perform tasks efficiently but also contribute meaningfully to a collaborative and dynamic work environment.

LinkedIn Strategic Guidelines for June 2024Bruce Bennett
LinkedIn is a powerful tool for networking, researching, and marketing yourself to clients and employers. This session teaches strategic practices for building your LinkedIn internet presence and marketing yourself. The use of # and @ symbols is covered as well as going mobile with the LinkedIn app.
We recently hosted the much-anticipated Community Skill Builders Workshop during our June online meeting. This event was a culmination of six months of listening to your feedback and crafting solutions to better support your PMI journey. Here’s a look back at what happened and the exciting developments that emerged from our collaborative efforts.
A Gathering of Minds
We were thrilled to see a diverse group of attendees, including local certified PMI trainers and both new and experienced members eager to contribute their perspectives. The workshop was structured into three dynamic discussion sessions, each led by our dedicated membership advocates.
Key Takeaways and Future Directions
The insights and feedback gathered from these discussions were invaluable. Here are some of the key takeaways and the steps we are taking to address them:
• Enhanced Resource Accessibility: We are working on a new, user-friendly resource page that will make it easier for members to access training materials and real-world application guides.
• Structured Mentorship Program: Plans are underway to launch a mentorship program that will connect members with experienced professionals for guidance and support.
• Increased Networking Opportunities: Expect to see more frequent and varied networking events, both virtual and in-person, to help you build connections and foster a sense of community.
Moving Forward
We are committed to turning your feedback into actionable solutions that enhance your PMI journey. This workshop was just the beginning. By actively participating and sharing your experiences, you have helped shape the future of our Chapter’s offerings.
Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to the success of the Community Skill Builders Workshop. Your engagement and enthusiasm are what make our Chapter strong and vibrant. Stay tuned for updates on the new initiatives and opportunities to get involved. Together, we are building a community that supports and empowers each other on our PMI journeys.
Stay connected, stay engaged, and let’s continue to grow together!
