Mole and Warts Treatment
Moles: Moles, also known as nevi, are small, pigmented spots that appear on the skin. They are usually brown or black in color, although they can also be pink, red, or fleshcolored. Moles are typically round or oval and can vary in size. They can be flat or raised and may have a smooth or slightly rough texture.
Warts: Warts are non-cancerous skin growths caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV). They typically appear as small, rough, raised bumps on the skin. Warts can vary in size, shape, and color, depending on their location and the specific strain of HPV involved.

New Directions in Targeted Therapeutic Approaches for Older Adults With Mantl...i3 Health
i3 Health is pleased to make the speaker slides from this activity available for use as a non-accredited self-study or teaching resource.
This slide deck presented by Dr. Kami Maddocks, Professor-Clinical in the Division of Hematology and
Associate Division Director for Ambulatory Operations
The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center, will provide insight into new directions in targeted therapeutic approaches for older adults with mantle cell lymphoma.
STATEMENT OF NEED
Mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) is a rare, aggressive B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) accounting for 5% to 7% of all lymphomas. Its prognosis ranges from indolent disease that does not require treatment for years to very aggressive disease, which is associated with poor survival (Silkenstedt et al, 2021). Typically, MCL is diagnosed at advanced stage and in older patients who cannot tolerate intensive therapy (NCCN, 2022). Although recent advances have slightly increased remission rates, recurrence and relapse remain very common, leading to a median overall survival between 3 and 6 years (LLS, 2021). Though there are several effective options, progress is still needed towards establishing an accepted frontline approach for MCL (Castellino et al, 2022). Treatment selection and management of MCL are complicated by the heterogeneity of prognosis, advanced age and comorbidities of patients, and lack of an established standard approach for treatment, making it vital that clinicians be familiar with the latest research and advances in this area. In this activity chaired by Michael Wang, MD, Professor in the Department of Lymphoma & Myeloma at MD Anderson Cancer Center, expert faculty will discuss prognostic factors informing treatment, the promising results of recent trials in new therapeutic approaches, and the implications of treatment resistance in therapeutic selection for MCL.
Target Audience
Hematology/oncology fellows, attending faculty, and other health care professionals involved in the treatment of patients with mantle cell lymphoma (MCL).
Learning Objectives
1.) Identify clinical and biological prognostic factors that can guide treatment decision making for older adults with MCL
2.) Evaluate emerging data on targeted therapeutic approaches for treatment-naive and relapsed/refractory MCL and their applicability to older adults
3.) Assess mechanisms of resistance to targeted therapies for MCL and their implications for treatment selection

Ethanol (CH3CH2OH), or beverage alcohol, is a two-carbon alcohol
that is rapidly distributed in the body and brain. Ethanol alters many
neurochemical systems and has rewarding and addictive properties. It
is the oldest recreational drug and likely contributes to more morbidity,
mortality, and public health costs than all illicit drugs combined. The
5th edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders
(DSM-5) integrates alcohol abuse and alcohol dependence into a single
disorder called alcohol use disorder (AUD), with mild, moderate,
and severe subclassifications (American Psychiatric Association, 2013).
In the DSM-5, all types of substance abuse and dependence have been
combined into a single substance use disorder (SUD) on a continuum
from mild to severe. A diagnosis of AUD requires that at least two of
the 11 DSM-5 behaviors be present within a 12-month period (mild
AUD: 2–3 criteria; moderate AUD: 4–5 criteria; severe AUD: 6–11 criteria).
The four main behavioral effects of AUD are impaired control over
drinking, negative social consequences, risky use, and altered physiological
effects (tolerance, withdrawal). This chapter presents an overview
of the prevalence and harmful consequences of AUD in the U.S.,
the systemic nature of the disease, neurocircuitry and stages of AUD,
comorbidities, fetal alcohol spectrum disorders, genetic risk factors, and
pharmacotherapies for AUD.

1. UM-D - 308 Excimer Laser Treatment for Vitiligo
1.What is 308 excimer laser treatment for vitiligo?
2.What is the principle of 308 excimer laser treatment for vitiligo?
3.Why 308nm excimer laser therapy can treat vitiligo?
4.What is the function of 308 laser treatment for vitiligo patients?
5.What are the advantages of 308 excimer laser treatment for vitiligo compared with traditional
treatment?
6.308 excimer laser treatment is suitable for which people groups?
7.308 excimer laser is better in which circumstance?
8.Why laser therapy has no effect to some vitiligo patients ?
9.Is excimer laser treatment system safe for vitiligo patients? Is it harmful to human skin?
10.Is 308 excimer laser treatment expensive?
In clinic, 308 excimer laser treatment for vitiligo is very useful and effective for vitiligo
treatment. And in many countries, 308 laser treatment is a common therapy for
2. vitiligo. 308nm excimer laser is one kind of excimer laser, meaning Xecl excimer laser.
It belongs to continuous pulsed gas laser. The wavelength is during the range of UVB,
and the pulse width is usually 10-30 ns.
2.What is the principle of 308 excimer laser treatment for vitiligo?
Nowadays, the causes and pathogenesis of vitiligo are still not clear yet. There are many hypothesis
to explain various clinical manifestation of different vitiligo patients.
3.Why 308nm excimer laser therapy can treat vitiligo?
Its therapy mechanism may be related to T lymphocyte apoptosis. Bian2chi and other
people have researched by using immunohistochemical method that 308nm excimer
laser can clean up the infiltrative T lymphocyte at lesion positions. Novak and others
have researched that 308nm excimer laser can promote the activated T lymphocyte
at vitiligo lesion positions apoptosis. The treatment effect is quite obvious, even more
obvious than NB-UVB’s ability to cause apoptosis.
After 308 laser irradiation, it can lead to T lymphocyte apoptosis, thus making the
vitiligo lesions disappear not only from naked eye levels, but also making the
structures recover to be normal on micro level. Vitiligo is characteristic by selective
melanophore, it may relate to patients’ autoimmune response. Narrow band
ultraviolet( NB-UVB) may have immunomodulatory effects to make human cells and
body fluid generate immunity, which can help to stabilize depigmentation progress.
Besides, NB-UVB has been widely identified as similar as PUVA(psoralen
photochemical therapy), which can stimulate remained melanophore to gather
around peripheral hair follicle outer root sheath. Melanophore can go on mitosis, the
3. generation and movement of melanin, always be induced by various cytokines and
inflammatory mediator, including interleukin, tumor necrosis factor α, leukotriene C4.
Recent researches indicate that after UVB irradiation, various cytokines and
inflammatory mediator will increase, which indicates that this is on mechanism of
UVB inducing the restore of melanin.
4.What is the function of 308 laser treatment for vitiligo patients?
1. Stimulate the proliferation of melanophore, promote melanin growth.
2. Induce T lymphocyte apoptosis.
3. Promote the generation of vitamin D3 .
4. Activate false catalase.
5.What are the advantages of 308 excimer laser treatment for vitiligo compared
with traditional treatment?
Compared with traditional treatment, the biggest advantage of 308 laser treatment is
the rapid and everlasting effect. Besides, it is very safe.
For vitiligo patients, the traditional treatment contains oral medicines and external
medicines, but they can not ensure effect. UV phototherapy usually needs about
hundreds times treatment. And the effect is limited. But laser just needs 2-4 courses
to reach above 75% complete recovery.
6.308 excimer laser treatment is suitable for which people groups?
1. The early vitiligo patients
2. Segmental type vitiligo, usual type vitiligo, hair follicle type vitiligo, local type
vitiligo and etc.
4. 3. Patients who are troubled by vitiligo for long time.
4. Patients whose vitiligo repeated attack.
5. Vitiligo children patients.
7.308 excimer laser is better in which circumstance?
1. The treatment effect is better for vitiligo on face, neck, trunk, arms and legs.
2. Patients not beyond 18 years old, and week vitiligo patients.
3. Pregnant women.
4.For development period vitiligo patients, Xtrac excimer laser treatment system has
better effect.
8.Why laser therapy has no effect to some vitiligo patients ?
When experts are using excimer laser to treat vitiligo, there are individual differences,
which are related to the following factors: skin color(skin type), lesion period,(short
disease time will have fast recovery), lesion positions(head, face, trunk have best
treatment effect, then arms and legs, and last finger dorsum, the centre of the palm,
vola treatment is difficult). Some patients are doubting why other patients’ laser
treatment effect is very good, but their laser treatment has no effect. And they also
ask why some positions recover fast, but other positions recover very slowly. The
following is some explanation.
The ordinary type vitiligo, the direct reason is the death of melanophore killed by T
lymphocyte. When T lymphocyte is going on immune killing, it needs to identify the
aim’s identity, which means T lymphocyte will identify and kill melanophore specially
when people get vitiligo. In human hair follicle, the melanophore in original state will
5. not express the feature symbol of melanophore. Therefore, they can escape from the
damage of T lymphocyte. The recovery of vitiligo needs excimer laser treatment to
stimulate these remained and original melanophore to grow into mature
melanophore with function to help skin recover. This is the reason why there are
pigment islands around sweat pores when vitiligo gets recovery. And then the island
will enlarge and get recovery finally. The reason why different positions have different
treatment effect may be related to hair follicle’s density of distribution, type, blood
supplement and etc. But the centre of the palm and vola don’t have hair follicle,
therefore, the treatment is the most difficult.
Beijing CASU vitiligo hospital UMD multidimensional treatment system experts
indicate that for different positions and treatment period, the treatment dose is also
different. Although 308 excimer laser has many advantages, not all vitiligo patients
can see the effect. Vitiligo experts need to make specific treatment plan for you
according to your condition. If the dose is small, it can not play treatment effect. If
the dose is too much, it will damage skin. Different doctors will make different
