Sony's PlayStation brand includes video game consoles, accessories, and services. The original PlayStation console launched in 1994 and was a major success. Sony has focused on gamers with its branding and marketing, portraying the PlayStation as the best place to play. Key technologies like Share Play allow innovative online multiplayer and social gaming. While some users report minor issues, most praise the PlayStation's high-quality gaming experience.
This document proposes a middleware solution called GameTie to allow gaming between PlayStation Network and Xbox Live users. Currently these console networks are separated, but GameTie would unify them without changes to the consoles. This would create a larger shared online gaming community and remove limitations of only playing with users of the same console. The proposal discusses how GameTie could technically connect the networks, be funded, licensed to developers, and initially promoted through a small game release to generate interest from players and pressure console makers to adopt the system.
The document compares three major video game consoles: Xbox One, PS4, and Wii U. It discusses their release years (2013 for Xbox One and PS4, 2012 for Wii U), peripherals (hard drives and controllers), specs, online features, and strengths/weaknesses. The Xbox One has 500GB hard drives and Xbox Live for online play, but less powerful specs than the PS4. The PS4 has better specs allowing higher quality games, but its online service is less user-friendly than Xbox Live. The Wii U has cheaper price but weaker specs, limiting high-end games, and is viewed as more casual than the other consoles.
This document describes a pervasive laser tag game concept called Future Warfare. The game uses laser guns, sensors, and a smartphone app. Each player has a laser gun that can shoot at other players' sensor-equipped jackets. The guns communicate wirelessly with a mobile app over Bluetooth to track ammunition, deaths, and more. The app provides a map interface and game information. It connects players and tracks the game in progress, ending when time expires or a winner emerges. The concept supports both cooperative and competitive multiplayer modes of play.

Briefly About Reinforcement Learning which we are using in our Esports project?Neeraj Bedi
Reinforcement learning is being used in an esports project to train non-player characters (NPCs). The NPCs receive rewards for correct actions and penalties for incorrect actions. This reinforcement learning technique could also be used to train an AI car in a game to navigate to a destination without crashing into trees by providing positive feedback for successful trips and negative feedback for crashes. Reinforcement learning is well-suited for this esports project and simulated car training because it allows agents to learn efficient behaviors from interactions with the environment rather than requiring full programming of routes or actions.

Imitation learning, also known as learning by demonstration, is an approach being used in an esports project. There are two approaches to imitation learning: behavioral cloning captures and reproduces human skills by recording a specialist's demonstrations of a task, while inverse reinforcement learning develops a reward function from observed agent behavior to understand the goal. Imitation learning is being used over reinforcement learning for the esports project because specifying an accurate reward function is difficult, and the goal is for an agent to perform like a human.

Climate Impact of Software Testing at Nordic Testing DaysKari Kakkonen
My slides at Nordic Testing Days 6.6.2024
Climate impact / sustainability of software testing discussed on the talk. ICT and testing must carry their part of global responsibility to help with the climat warming. We can minimize the carbon footprint but we can also have a carbon handprint, a positive impact on the climate. Quality characteristics can be added with sustainability, and then measured continuously. Test environments can be used less, and in smaller scale and on demand. Test techniques can be used in optimizing or minimizing number of tests. Test automation can be used to speed up testing.

Removing Uninteresting Bytes in Software FuzzingAftab Hussain
Imagine a world where software fuzzing, the process of mutating bytes in test seeds to uncover hidden and erroneous program behaviors, becomes faster and more effective. A lot depends on the initial seeds, which can significantly dictate the trajectory of a fuzzing campaign, particularly in terms of how long it takes to uncover interesting behaviour in your code. We introduce DIAR, a technique designed to speedup fuzzing campaigns by pinpointing and eliminating those uninteresting bytes in the seeds. Picture this: instead of wasting valuable resources on meaningless mutations in large, bloated seeds, DIAR removes the unnecessary bytes, streamlining the entire process.
In this work, we equipped AFL, a popular fuzzer, with DIAR and examined two critical Linux libraries -- Libxml's xmllint, a tool for parsing xml documents, and Binutil's readelf, an essential debugging and security analysis command-line tool used to display detailed information about ELF (Executable and Linkable Format). Our preliminary results show that AFL+DIAR does not only discover new paths more quickly but also achieves higher coverage overall. This work thus showcases how starting with lean and optimized seeds can lead to faster, more comprehensive fuzzing campaigns -- and DIAR helps you find such seeds.
