The document is intended to educate engineers on important considerations for properly sizing and designing pressure relief systems.
This document summarizes API STD 521 Part-I, which provides guidance on overpressure protection for refinery equipment. It discusses overpressure causes and protection philosophies. It also lists the minimum recommended contents for relief system designs and flare header calculations. These include analyzing overpressure causes, operating conditions, relief device sizing, and documentation of simulation inputs and outputs. Various overpressure causes are outlined, such as closed outlets, absorbent or cooling failures, accumulation of non-condensables, abnormal heat input, explosions, and depressurizing. Protection measures against these causes like relief valves, rupture disks, and explosion prevention are also mentioned.
CENTRIFUGAL COMPRESSOR SETTLE OUT CONDITIONS TUTORIALVijay Sarathy
Centrifugal Compressors are a preferred choice in gas transportation industry, mainly due to their ability to cater to varying loads. In the event of a compressor shutdown as a planned event, i.e., normal shutdown (NSD), the anti-surge valve is opened to recycle gas from the discharge back to the suction (thereby moving the operating point away from the surge line) and the compressor is tripped via the driver (electric motor or Gas turbine / Steam Turbine). In the case of an unplanned event, i.e., emergency shutdown such as power failure, the compressor trips first followed by the anti-surge valve opening. In doing so, the gas content in the suction side & discharge side mix.
Therefore, settle out conditions is explained as the equilibrium pressure and temperature reached in the compressor piping and equipment volume following a compressor shutdown
This document provides an overview of piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), including their definition, typical layout, components indicated, types of P&IDs, milestones in development, and the typical process for developing P&IDs from conceptual design through detailed engineering. It describes the 12 main steps in P&ID development, including developing the basis of design, process flow diagram, equipment list, piping design, instrumentation, and integrating information from other engineering disciplines. Examples of typical hookups for equipment like heat exchangers, pumps, vessels, and safety valves are also provided, along with exercises for engineers to practice developing sections of P&IDs.
Factory ESD Grounding System Design Applications?? ?
This document discusses grounding system design for electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection. It analyzes the effectiveness of different grounding schemes, including those based on alternating current (AC) equipment ground, separated ground, and auxiliary ground. The document proposes a hybrid grounding scheme that provides double reliability through both AC equipment grounding and a separate ESD ground connected by equipotential bonding. This approach best equalizes potential for ESD protection while ensuring personnel safety from AC leakage through features like ground fault circuit interrupters.
Plate type heat exchanger by vikas sainiVikas Saini
A plate heat exchanger consists of thin corrugated metal plates clamped together in a frame. Liquid flows through alternating plates in a counter-current fashion, transferring heat between the two liquids through the metal. Plate heat exchangers are compact, have a large surface area for heat transfer, and can be easily opened for cleaning. They are commonly used for processes requiring heat transfer between liquids but have limitations for high pressure, flow rate differences, or handling solids.

1) LIQUID BACK (액백) 및 LIQUID BACK (액백 ) 상태의 기동
