Iaetsd secure data dissemination based onIaetsd Iaetsd
This document proposes a secure data dissemination protocol called Se-Drip for wireless sensor networks. Se-Drip uses a Merkle hash tree to securely disseminate data from a base station to sensor nodes in the network. The protocol has three phases: 1) initialization where the base station generates keys and loads them on nodes, 2) packet preprocessing where the base station constructs data packets and their authentication paths in a Merkle hash tree, and 3) packet verification where nodes verify received packets against the hash tree to authenticate the data. Se-Drip aims to securely disseminate data while being lightweight, robust to packet loss, and resistant to denial-of-service attacks.

This document summarizes a student's paper on using reinforcement learning for anomaly detection in software defined networks. The student aims to use machine learning techniques, specifically reinforcement learning, to make network traffic control decisions given certain network attack scenarios. The student's methodology involves using network statistics collected from an OpenFlow switch to define states for a reinforcement learning algorithm. The algorithm is deployed on the application plane of an SDN architecture and aims to identify anomalous traffic flows based on features like flow size and packet counts, then take actions through the controller to stop anomalous traffic from affecting the network. Initial testing of the approach showed potential for detecting ping flood and SYN flood attacks on the simulated network.
This document discusses security issues with the Ad Hoc On-Demand Distance Vector (AODV) routing protocol for mobile ad hoc networks. It first provides background on AODV and security challenges in mobile ad hoc networks. It then analyzes specific attacks on AODV like traffic redirection, replay attacks, and loop formation. The document presents simulation results for a 5 node network that show that insecure AODV has good throughput but higher packet dropping and delay. It concludes that providing security for AODV is needed to address these issues.
The document proposes a scheme to identify packet droppers and modifiers in wireless sensor networks. It involves establishing a routing tree with the sink at the root. Each packet sender or forwarder adds a small number of packet marks. Based on these marks, the sink can determine the dropping ratio for each node and identify for sure or suspicious droppers/modifiers. Over time as node behaviors are observed in different scenarios, the sink uses ranking algorithms to gradually identify the most likely bad nodes with small false positives. The proposed scheme is effective at identifying droppers and modifiers with low overhead and works with existing filtering schemes.
Maximizing network interruption in wirelessIJCNCJournal
With the colossal growth of wireless sensor networks (WSNs) in different applications starting from home
automation to military affairs, the pressure on ensuring security in such a network is paramount.
Considering the security challenges, it is really a hard-hitting effort to develop a secured WSN system.
Moreover, as the information technology is getting popular, the intruders are also planning new ideas to
break the system security, to harm the network and to make the system quality down with the target of
taking the control of the network to corrupt it or to get benefits from it anyway. The intruders corrupt the
system only when the security breaking cost (SBC) is lower compared with the benefits they attained or the
harm it can make to others. In this paper, the authors define the term “maximizing network interruption
problem” and propose a technique, called the grid point approximation algorithm, to estimate the SBC of a
multi-hop WSN so that it can be made tougher for an intruder to break the system security. It is assumed
that the intruder has the complete picture of the entire network. The technique is designed from the
intruder’s point of view for completely jamming all the sensor nodes in the network through placing
jammers or malicious nodes strategically and at the same time keeping the number of jammer nodes to
minimum or near minimum. To the best of the authors’ knowledge, there is no work proposed so far of the
same kind. Experimental results with the changes of the different network parameters show that the
proposed algorithm is able to provide excellent performances to achieve the targets.

3. The proposed protocol uses simple cryptographic techniques with network coding to prevent pollution and denial of service attacks, while still achieving fast dissemination. It focuses on disseminating small data values securely and efficiently in wireless sensor networks.
IRJET- SDN Multi-Controller based Framework to Detect and Mitigate DDoS i...IRJET Journal
This document proposes a scalable framework using SDN and machine learning techniques to detect and mitigate DDoS attacks in large-scale networks. The framework uses a lightweight detection layer implemented across multiple controllers to detect anomalies locally using entropy calculations. It also includes a heavyweight detection layer in a centralized system that employs machine learning for more accurate detection. The goal is to provide robust intrusion detection that can quickly detect network attacks efficiently in large networks.
Distributed Packet Filtering Firewall for Enhanced Security In Mobile Ad-Hoc ...IJERA Editor
The nodes in MANET are free to move in a limited grid layout without the presence of vision of the superior
authority or administration. The nodes in network are free to move in any other network at any time. That means
the nodes are join or leave the network at any instant, that's why the security is the major issue in MANET.
Routing protocols are not able to handle the malicious activities of attacker because their function is to provide
the path in between sender to receiver and route data from the path which is selected for transferring information.
This paper proposed the distributed security scheme for providing reliable path and secure communication. The
proposed bloom filtering technique is not only filtering the unwanted infected packets of routing attacker. It's
also recovered the modified data and protects IP modification with the help of new route establishment
mechanism. The proposed bloom filter is provides the secure communication and stop the attacker infection. The
Bloom filter removes the IP modified packets that shows the presence of malicious routing attacker in dynamic
network. The normal routing performance and proposed bloom filter is almost equivalent. The performance of
network is measured through performance metrics and proposed distributed security scheme provides better
performance.

The document proposes a new intrusion detection system called EAACK that is designed specifically for mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs). Existing intrusion detection systems for MANETs have weaknesses including being vulnerable to false misbehavior reports and forged acknowledgment packets. EAACK addresses these weaknesses by using digital signatures to authenticate acknowledgment packets and thereby guarantee their validity. This helps EAACK more accurately detect malicious nodes and behaviors. The system is also designed to reduce network overhead compared to previous acknowledgment-based approaches.
The document discusses node localizability in wireless ad hoc and sensor networks. It introduces the concept of node localizability, which allows analyzing how many nodes can be located in sparsely or moderately connected networks. The study derives necessary and sufficient conditions for node localizability to determine if a specific node can be located. Experimental results on a real-world system show that node localizability provides useful guidance for network deployment and location-based services.

This document discusses energy-efficient strategies for cooperative multichannel MAC protocols. It introduces Distributed Information SHaring (DISH), which helps nodes make decisions by sharing information with neighboring nodes. This approach was shown to significantly increase throughput but had not addressed energy efficiency. The paper proposes two strategies: in-situ energy conscious DISH which uses existing nodes, and altruistic DISH which uses additional nodes called altruists. Evaluation shows altruistic DISH conserves 40-80% of energy, maintains throughput advantages, and more than doubles cost efficiency compared to protocols without this strategy. In-situ energy conscious DISH is only suitable in limited scenarios.

CTVS is a novel data extraction and alignment method that combines tag and value similarity to extract data from query result pages. It first identifies and segments query result records in the pages and aligns them into a table with data values from the same attribute in the same column. CTVS handles cases where records are not contiguous due to auxiliary information and any nested structures within records. It also designs a new record alignment algorithm that aligns attributes pairwise and holistically using tag and value similarity. Experimental results show CTVS achieves high precision and outperforms existing methods.

The document discusses a new algorithm for topic mining over asynchronous text sequences. The algorithm aims to explore correlations between multiple related text sequences that may have different time stamps. It consists of two alternating steps: 1) extracting common topics from sequences based on adjusted time stamps, and 2) adjusting time stamps according to the discovered topic time distributions. The approach is evaluated on research papers and news articles, demonstrating effectiveness in identifying topics across asynchronously published documents.

The document presents a new approach called TSCAN for temporally summarizing topics from a collection of documents. TSCAN first derives the major themes of a topic from the eigenvectors of a temporal block association matrix. It then extracts significant events and their summaries for each theme by examining the eigenvectors. Finally, it associates the extracted events based on their temporal closeness and context similarity to form an evolution graph of the topic. Experiments on the TDT4 corpus show that temporal summaries generated by TSCAN present topics in a comprehensible form and are superior to existing summarization methods based on human references.

Catching Packet Droppers and Modifiers in Wireless Sensor
Networks
Abstract:
Packet dropping and modification are common attacks that can be launched by an
adversary to disrupt communication in wireless multihop sensor networks. Many
schemes have been proposed to mitigate or tolerate such attacks, but very few can
effectively and efficiently identify the intruders. To address this problem, we
propose a simple yet effective scheme, which can identify misbehaving forwarders
that drop or modify packets. Extensive analysis and simulations have been
conducted to verify the effectiveness and efficiency of the scheme.
