Science and more specifically projects using HPC is facing a digital data explosion. Instruments and simulations are producing more and more volume; data can be shared, mined, cited, preserved… They are a great asset, but they are facing risks: we can miss storage, we can lose them, they can be misused,… To start this session, we will review why it is important to manage research data and how to do this by maintaining a Data Management Plan. This will be based on the best practices from EUDAT H2020 project and European Commission recommendation. During the second part we will interactively draft a DMP for a given use case.

Global Atlas for Renewable Energy - application to MauritaniaIRENA Global Atlas
One of the key activities in IRENA is the development of renewable readiness assessments (RRAs). An RRA is a holistic assessment of conditions for renewable energy deployment in a country, and the actions necessary to further improve these conditions. An RRA is a rapid assessment of how a country can increase readiness and overcome the main barriers to the deployment of renewable energy technologies. It covers all services (transport, heat, electricity and motive power), and sources of renewable energy, with countries selecting those of relevance. The RRA comprises a process and a methodology that includes completing a set of templates and a final report. On the occasion of the RRA Mauritania, the Global Atlas was presented, as a potential supplier of data, data infrstructure and education for zoning renewable energy hotspots.

Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.

30. Intellectual property?
• If the data has IP restrictions – signature of a data
sharing agreement with IRENA
• IP remains with the data owner
• Data sharing and download can be limited on demand
• Service can be modified or stopped from data owner’s
end
• The catalog can handle private and public data

39. Using the interface in your own website

Data are promoted in an interactive
manner without having to develop
an online GIS.

40. What is the Global Atlas?
• A free, open source, open standards Global Spatial Data Infrastructure
A global public library of renewable resource maps – 300 + datasets included
The information is not copied or duplicated, and existing services are integrated
Data owners use freely the platform to disseminate and reference their own datasets
Depending on the IP restrictions, the links can be used by the Atlas online GIS, the
data owners and their project partners, and the general public
• The GIS interface is online and freely accessible. Basic users can access information and
perform basic analyses.
• ‘Advanced’ users can create their own online project maps, embed those in their
webportal, and use the online tools on their own datasets.

data
• Additional datasets coming online – DTU, CENER, NASA, others
• Significant improvements to the Atlas GIS
• Capacity Building for the Atlas
• Roadmap for Geothermal energy
• Roadmap for Bioenergy
• Hydropower?
• Technical Assistance
