The industrial ‘revolution’ brought about by 3D Printing and Additive Manufacturing technologies calls for an extensive rethinking of Economic Policies and Regulation. This talk will focus on three critical aspects: Industry Policy and support to innovation, Competition policy,
With the global drive to reduce the level of NOx and CO2 emissions from diesel engine exhausts, Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) systems with high conversion efficiency will be the key to providing cost effective solutions to the industry. The EU's upcoming regulations for the implementation of PEMS (Portable Emission Measurement Equipment) measurements in regard of Real Driving Emissions (RDE) will increase the requirements for the performance of SCR systems: Highest efficiency will be required under a wide range of operating conditions.
Moreover, the industry trend goes to an integration of different functions within the system. The combination of DPF and SCR coated catalyst reduces the weight of the whole system, but has caused several technical challenges that have not yet been fully solved.
The SCR-coated DPF has to stand tightened requirements of robustness and efficiency. Due to fuel saving measures, exhaust gas temperatures become lower, which highly affects the performance and requirements of the system.
- Exchange with international experts on how to incorporate SCR technology with all its various components in existing vehicle platforms
- Hear about the latest innovations in validation and testing and examine methods for sensors, catalysts and OBD functions with regard to DeNOx –technologies
- Discuss with leading specialists on how SCR system space can be optimized and sufficient exhaust system temperatures be achieved without compromising fuel consumption
- Develop strategies on how to best prepare your SCR development strategies for reducing real driving emissions
Discuss pressing topics with e.g. Michael Fischer, Section Leader Powertrain Technology at Honda R&D Europe, Bret Zimmerman, SCR Calibration Senior Engineer at Ford Motor Company or Dr. Thomas Garbe, Team Leader Fuels at Volkswagen AG...

Ensuring optimised design, successful migration and safety compliant systemsTorben Haagh
As the automotive industry continues its steady increase in the utilisation of electrical components and functions, so too is it faced with the challenge of requiring increasing amounts of processing power within its embedded systems. After continued increases, the clock rates are stagnating so that single-core processors are no longer adequate to satisfy many of the next generation embedded system requirements. The basis technology for future embedded systems must therefore be multi- and many-core processors.
Multi-core processors are superior to their single-core predecessor in calculation power and energy efficiency. However, to apply multi-core processors to systems in the embedded domain software developers, integrators and system architects are faced with various new challenges regarding system complexity and controllability. Furthermore, the new technology has an impact on the whole development process and impacts all development phases alike.
IQPC’s Second International Conference “Automotive Embedded Multi-Core Systems” will bring together stakeholders from along the value chain to ensure maximum knowledge transfer and professional exchange. During a full three day programme, you will meet international experts from OEMs, suppliers, and academia to discuss, hear and learn about their experiences and challenges with multi-core design, migration and optimisation.

The automotive industry is increasingly emphasizing the importance of braking technology for its overall market success.
A constantly progressing electrification and integration of systems as well as the must-have Five-Star Rating on the Euro NCAP safety assessment brings up specific challenges for the industry: Next to the design of new-generation-brake systems, the industry is confronted with critical success factors that relate to the functionality of single systems, such as Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) systems, its integration and validation with all its soft- and hardware components. Moreover, facing pressures from various angles, such as the European legislation on emission reduction, the need for braking technologies that allow for maximum energy savings and comfort while being within the scope of feasibility becomes constantly urgent.
Intelligent Braking 2013 will define strategies, technologies and architectures to optimize functionality and performance on
"next-generation" braking systems.

Dear colleagues,
It is with great pleasure that I would like to welcome you to IQPC’s launch event on “Automotive Lightweight
Chassis and Frame Design”.
The event could not be timelier. In light of demands for a lower carbon footprint and reduced Co2-emissions
to meet European Union standards, developing and designing light vehicles which are ready for high-volume
production is becoming increasingly important.
Even though a lot of RD investment is done in areas such as innovative composites and structures, most
solutions still lack high-volume production potential due to cost-extensive production techniques or material
costs.
However, efficient lightweight chassis and frame designs can also be achieved by analysing saving potentials at
early RD stages or along the production chain. Today’s automotive landscape requires a holistic design and
development approach that integrates lightweight saving and efficiency needs with an assessment of what
customers are willing to pay.
With this conference we aim at providing you with a platform for expert exchange and insight, sharing ideas,
fruitful networking with your peers and inspiration for your future work.
During the two conference days, the lightweight chassis and frame topic will be covered in expert presentations,
interactive networking sessions, plenary discussions as well as during an informal evening get-together. During
the workshop day you have the opportunity to choose the topics of your particular interest and discuss them
in-depth with like-minded experts. We hope that you will enjoy the conference and look forward to welcoming you
in Wiesbaden.
Kind regards
