    Business Requirements / Strategy:

    1.   BWM want to improve the experience of purchasing a used BWM vehicle for
         their customers

    2.   BWM want to explore the use of telecommunication channels for more
         effective inventory information management (Web Service Technology)



    Project Objectives:

    1.   To improve and ease the ability of customers to locate second hand BWM
         vehicles

    2.   To improve the corporate data retained by BWM

    3.   To instigate a Web presence for the benefits of their customer‟s

    4.   To improve the data that BWM hold about individual vehicles and their history
4                                   2) PROBLEMS AND CAUSES



    Problems:

    1.   Customer have to contact or visit each of the franchised garages individually in order to
         see the stock of second hand vehicles that they have.

    2.   BWM have no way of knowing when a second hand vehicle is brought by one of their
         franchises and then subsequently sold to a customer.

    3.   Lost history

    4.   BWM cannot offer vehicles as „BWM Assured‟ which places them at a significant
         disadvantage in the market (customer).



    Causes:

    1.   No franchise‟s stock record at BWM

    2.   No link between BWM and franchise website

    3.   No Historical data of a vehicle

    4.   Sales status cannot update at BWM website
5                                    3) SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS



    Project Requirements (System Requirements )

    1.   Distributed access to the franchise databases

    2.   Search all vehicles at BWM website

    3.   Customer can visit the website of the franchise garage

    4.   Customer can see vehicle details after a vehicle is selected

    5.   Franchise submit vehicle information to BWM website

    6.   (Objective) To improve data hold by BWM about individual vehicles and their history data



    System Requirements

    1.    System must be based of a franchise garage named “SPOCK”

    2.    System must comprise of a BWM Website with rich information

    3.    System should be setup so that Vehicle Management System can be accessed by only
          BMW employees with effective authentications.

  • 3. 3 1) BUSINESS REQUIREMENTS Business Requirements / Strategy: 1. BWM want to improve the experience of purchasing a used BWM vehicle for their customers 2. BWM want to explore the use of telecommunication channels for more effective inventory information management (Web Service Technology) Project Objectives: 1. To improve and ease the ability of customers to locate second hand BWM vehicles 2. To improve the corporate data retained by BWM 3. To instigate a Web presence for the benefits of their customer‟s 4. To improve the data that BWM hold about individual vehicles and their history
  • 4. 4 2) PROBLEMS AND CAUSES Problems: 1. Customer have to contact or visit each of the franchised garages individually in order to see the stock of second hand vehicles that they have. 2. BWM have no way of knowing when a second hand vehicle is brought by one of their franchises and then subsequently sold to a customer. 3. Lost history 4. BWM cannot offer vehicles as „BWM Assured‟ which places them at a significant disadvantage in the market (customer). Causes: 1. No franchise‟s stock record at BWM 2. No link between BWM and franchise website 3. No Historical data of a vehicle 4. Sales status cannot update at BWM website
  • 5. 5 3) SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS Project Requirements (System Requirements ) 1. Distributed access to the franchise databases 2. Search all vehicles at BWM website 3. Customer can visit the website of the franchise garage 4. Customer can see vehicle details after a vehicle is selected 5. Franchise submit vehicle information to BWM website 6. (Objective) To improve data hold by BWM about individual vehicles and their history data System Requirements 1. System must be based of a franchise garage named “SPOCK” 2. System must comprise of a BWM Website with rich information 3. System should be setup so that Vehicle Management System can be accessed by only BMW employees with effective authentications.
