3. We are looking forward to another
outstanding season of Warrior Basketball!
Coach Kyle Kegley and his staff are continuing
to prepare our athletes for contests in the
highly competitive Marmonte League. The
expectations are high for an outstanding
season, and we believe that the fans will be in
for an exciting, disciplined, and fast-paced style
of play. Moreover, the WHS facilities continue
to be some of the best in the league to provide
an enjoyable basketball experience for both
players and spectators.
We are confident our expert level instruction
will result in a successful season. We extend
our highest confidence and good luck to all
the coaches and athletes for the upcoming
season.
Westlake High School continues to strive to
provide the finest in high school athletics.
Competition and sportsmanship go hand in
hand and are an important part of a successful
program. In addition, we expect our student
athletes to be role models on the court, in the
classroom, and in the community. We can all
share in Westlake Pride by displaying good
sportsmanship to visiting teams, fans and
officials.
Go Warriors - have a great season!

4. “Talent wins games, but teamwork
and intelligence win championships.”
– Michael Jordan
The Westlake Warriors boys’ basketball team is ready to have another successful season!
Marred by injuries last season, the 2022-2023 Varsity Warriors persevered to end the season
with a 16-13 overall record: 4-6 in the Marmonte league and went to the first round of the
division 2AA CIF playoffs. This year’s 13-player roster returns seven players and consists of six
seniors, five juniors, and two sophomores. This group is an experienced team eager to improve
upon last season’s record. The team will compete for a league championship in the always
tough and deep Marmonte league, and they strive to make a run in the division 2A CIF playoffs.
This year’s team has an up-tempo and unselfish style of play on the offensive end, with multiple
players capable of pushing the ball, attacking the basket, and shooting the three. The group has
worked hard over the spring, summer, and fall on the court, in the weight room, and in the
classroom. They will use a hard-nosed style of toughness on the defensive end. What the team
lacks in height, they make up for in physical and mental toughness. All five players on the court
will be crashing the boards both defensively and offensively. Once again, it will come down to
our program’s cornerstone of getting one-shot stops on defense: no rebounds, no
championships.
The 2023 non-league schedule is a tough one with several CIF division 1 and 2 opponents.
Success will rely on the starters’ chemistry on the court. We look to add to this chemistry from
our bench with an always ready attitude and approach to contribute. The question will be can
WE excel in the little things? If we stay healthy, continue to improve over the course of the
season, and live by the “say less do more” motto with actions speaking louder than words, the
team will be in for a successful season.
WE will rely on our program’s three C’s culture of caring, communicating, and being committed
to each other every day. WE over ME always! Together WE cannot wait to have our Warrior
Nation and Tribe fans in the stands supporting us. Go Warriors! #WE #SayLessDoMore
