Introduction of Scenic Spots in Shanghai
The Bund
The Bund, located at the walking tour belt from the Waibaidu Bridge, which is on the
west bank of Huangpu River to the East Jinling Road, is one of the most symbolic spots
in Shanghai, winding 1500 meters in length. Exotic building clusters and night view of
Pujiang River are the most charming here. To the left is a wide Zhongshandongyi Road,
where there is parade of tens of foreign architectures in different styles and to the right is
Huangpu River, mother river of Shanghai. Across the river, there are several skyscrapers,
like Oriental Pearl Tower, Jinmao Tower, Shanghai World Financial Center and Shanghai
Tower. At night, wandering on the Bund, one can appreciate the flavor and romance of the
Sleepless Mall. The essence of the Bund is exotic building clusters, called International
Architecture Exhibition that consisting of 52 diverse buildings. No matter looking from
far beyond or walking among them, one can always breathe the airs of vigor, grandeur,
elegance and luxury.

Shikumen buildings within Shanghai Xintiandi retain the antique walls and tiles, making
visitors feel like entering tunnels of light.

Yu Garden
Builded in the late Ming and early Qing periods, Yu Garden is only Ming-style Garden in

and inscriptions written by the School of Logicians, along with Stone Sculpture Exhibition

Currency
The local currency is the RMB. Visa and Master Card are accepted
at the Registration Desk. Foreign currency will not be accepted.
You are requested to pay with cash in RMB or credit card. The
amount debited from your account will vary due to fluctuations in
the exchange rate. There is normally a 4% additional bank charge.
Participants can exchange their currencies at airports, major hotels
and banks in China. The exchange rate will be given daily by the
Bank of China. Currently, 1 USD can be exchanged for about 6.5
RMB yuan.
Emergencies
If you or any other delegate is unwell, an accident or any other
emergency occurs, while at the conference venue, please contact
the Registration Desk or any staff member.
Lost Property
If you see any unattended parcel, please report to one of the
congress staff members. If you lose anything at the venue, please
enquire at the Registration Desk.

The congress organizers recommend participants to possess travel,
property medical or other necessary insurances before coming to

Smoking Policy
In the conference area, smoking is prohibited. Smoking is only
permitted in a few designated areas outside the building.

Shanghai is 8 hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time.
Weather
September is a little hot in Shanghai, typically most of time is rainy.
Temperature is around 24-29, while it is also a good time to stay
and visit Shanghai and elsewhere in China. Make sure to carry an
umbrella because there will be shower occasionally.
Water
It is not recommended to directly drink the water from the tap in
your hotel room or at the congress area. If you want to drink cold
water, it is best to order or buy bottled water, mineral or distilled
water. Hotels generally provide an electrically heated kettle to boil
water from the tap in your room. Some hotels also provide a special
tap in the lavatory that delivers a flow of purified water for drinking.
This advice also applies to your pre-congress or post-congress
travel in other cities in China.
Voltage, Socket and Plugs
The electrical current in China is 220-volts, 50HzA/C. Hotels
generally provide wall sockets in every room,accommodating both
the standard “Flat blade attachmentplug (Type A)”and common
“Oblique flat blades withground(inverted V) plug (Type I)”as well as
the not-socommon“Round pin attachment plug (Type C)”as shown
in following photographs.
