The panel discussion covered new technologies that can be used in elections and voter registration. Panelists demonstrated how Microsoft Office programs like Word, PowerPoint, and Excel can help with tasks like creating forms and tracking voter data. Google products like Google Docs, Sheets, Drive and Maps were also discussed as free alternatives. Specific projects using Amazon Kindle tablets, Google Sheets and Maps for election results reporting were presented. Upcoming alternatives for voting equipment and resources for modernizing election websites were also highlighted. The panel took questions from the audience.

Maximizing Your Data’s Potential: DOTs & DPWs EditionSafe Software
Whether you’re dealing with roads, highways, runways, waters, or all of the above – valuable data that drives decision-making is at the centre of it all. But data management across all elements of the transportation industry can feel like an ongoing challenge. You may have software and systems in place, but getting them to accomplish all your data integration needs seamlessly may leave you feeling much to be desired.
That's where FME will save your day (quite literally). During this Department of Transportation (DOT) and Department of Public Works (DPW) edition webinar, we’ll walk you through:
- Managing transportation data
- Connecting to different data silos or web systems
- Processing real-time data streams
Let us help you put data integration & automation at the forefront of your data analytics strategy using the power of FME: the data integration with the best support for spatial data. Register to learn how other DOTs and transportation companies have made this possible, and how you can too.

Voting Solutions For All People: UX Case StudyJon Fox
The Voting Solutions for All People (VSAP) was developed by the Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk (RR/CC) in 2009 to address an aging voting system and an increasingly large and complex electorate. The project seeks a collaborative approach to voting system design that will put voters at the center and maximize stakeholder participation.
Through field research and coalition building, the RR/CC has pioneered a voter-centered approach to voting system design and development.

Report generation used to take the Valuations Office in Ireland 20 tedious, long hours per report. Now, it's down to just 3 minutes: saving roughly 42,000 hours annually.
In this first of two parts webinar series, join us and special guest Philip Jacob to learn how they made this possible, and how you can capture time savings like this too by converting data using the Mapnik Rasterizer and FME.
To follow Philips' story, Scenario Specialist Dmitri Bagh will walk you through the basics of understanding and getting started with the Mapnik Rasterizer. You'll learn how to generate beautiful raster imagery and save time with FME’s ability to integrate data from 500+ sources.
You’ll also see how to optimize data before it reaches Mapnik -- including the ability to perform a wide range of geometry transformations. And with the MapnikRasterizer transformer, all of this is done with scalable and automated workflows at your fingertips -- no Python, XML or CSS needed.
P.S. Stay tuned in the New Year for the announcement of a second Data Democratization webinar to complete this series: creating Microsoft Word documents with FME.

Up the Ratios Bylaws - a Comprehensive Process of Our Organizationuptheratios
Up the Ratios is a non-profit organization dedicated to bridging the gap in STEM education for underprivileged students by providing free, high-quality learning opportunities in robotics and other STEM fields. Our mission is to empower the next generation of innovators, thinkers, and problem-solvers by offering a range of educational programs that foster curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking.
At Up the Ratios, we believe that every student, regardless of their socio-economic background, should have access to the tools and knowledge needed to succeed in today's technology-driven world. To achieve this, we host a variety of free classes, workshops, summer camps, and live lectures tailored to students from underserved communities. Our programs are designed to be engaging and hands-on, allowing students to explore the exciting world of robotics and STEM through practical, real-world applications.
Our free classes cover fundamental concepts in robotics, coding, and engineering, providing students with a strong foundation in these critical areas. Through our interactive workshops, students can dive deeper into specific topics, working on projects that challenge them to apply what they've learned and think creatively. Our summer camps offer an immersive experience where students can collaborate on larger projects, develop their teamwork skills, and gain confidence in their abilities.
In addition to our local programs, Up the Ratios is committed to making a global impact. We take donations of new and gently used robotics parts, which we then distribute to students and educational institutions in other countries. These donations help ensure that young learners worldwide have the resources they need to explore and excel in STEM fields. By supporting education in this way, we aim to nurture a global community of future leaders and innovators.
Our live lectures feature guest speakers from various STEM disciplines, including engineers, scientists, and industry professionals who share their knowledge and experiences with our students. These lectures provide valuable insights into potential career paths and inspire students to pursue their passions in STEM.
Up the Ratios relies on the generosity of donors and volunteers to continue our work. Contributions of time, expertise, and financial support are crucial to sustaining our programs and expanding our reach. Whether you're an individual passionate about education, a professional in the STEM field, or a company looking to give back to the community, there are many ways to get involved and make a difference.
We are proud of the positive impact we've had on the lives of countless students, many of whom have gone on to pursue higher education and careers in STEM. By providing these young minds with the tools and opportunities they need to succeed, we are not only changing their futures but also contributing to the advancement of technology and innovation on a broader scale.

Russian anarchist and anti-war movement in the third year of full-scale warAntti Rautiainen
Anarchist group ANA Regensburg hosted my online-presentation on 16th of May 2024, in which I discussed tactics of anti-war activism in Russia, and reasons why the anti-war movement has not been able to make an impact to change the course of events yet. Cases of anarchists repressed for anti-war activities are presented, as well as strategies of support for political prisoners, and modest successes in supporting their struggles.

Working with your County Mapping Dept.
Fairfax and Loudoun Counties are both currently working with a system initially
developed by Fairfax to present election results on election night in map format.
Using data provided by the Election Office, the Mapping Department is able to
populate a map of precincts and districts with results information. Members of
the public can click on the chosen precinct or district and all offices and results
that appeared on that ballot are displayed.
This technology is available for free to any Mapping office that utilizes GIS.

Editor's Notes
There are many products that will make your life easier if you take the time to look for them.
Everyone here in some aspect or another should use and be familiar with the microsoft office suite.
But we are going to delve a little deeper in how you should be using these tools to make your life easier. (This will especially pertain to small registrar localities)
Also everything that i am going to talk about i will be more than happy to send you the forms or information about.
I know that everyone here has heard of google. If you have not then welcome to the world of tomorrow.
Google has many applications and websites and services that are available to you for Free.
Again i have only picked a couple that might benefit you.
Now on to my favorite GOOGLE.
Google Cloud Print print from any device to any printer anywhere in the world!!!!
I know this is amazing, because it is. but there is one thing to keep in mind this has to pass through multiple servers so do not print anything with an SSN attached.
Google Forms - How many of you hate survey monkey? I know i do...lol but google forms is simple to use, free, and can help you gather data in a simple to use format.
Google Doc. - In the previous slides i told you how great word, excel, and powerpoint could be. Well imaging that in a free online format. You have google DOC’s. This whoole presentation was created with google docs.
Google Drive - Ever heard of the mysterious could well that is what google drive is it is a cloud storage.
Google Drawings - Create flow charts
Google maps - amazing tool and features
Please I encourage you if you have any questions about this please talk to me. I am by no means an expert, but i do use this stuff every day and am very familiar with that it can do to make our lives easier.
Now I am happy to pass this along to Rickey Keech
