This document outlines the rewards system called "Kudos Stamps" for an English class. Students can earn stamps for good behavior and class participation which can then be redeemed for various rewards. These rewards include opportunities for extra credit points, submitting assignments late without penalty, snacks, and bonuses on exams. The stamps have assigned values and can be saved up and combined to obtain higher value rewards. The system is intended to motivate students and provide flexibility during the school year.

1. “Kudos Stamps” Value Card Mrs. Tolin- English 9CP—Applicable only for the 2014-15 school year Amount of Kudos Stamps: Cash-in “value”: Special “note”- read carefully:
1 stamp
An opportunity to answer a Trivial Pursuit question correctly to earn extra credit added on to your quarter grade. Categories may include: Geography, Entertainment, History, Arts & Literature, Science & Nature, and Sports & Leisure
1 stamp = 1 attempt= 1 question per student. If you answer incorrectly, no bonus points earned. If you answer correctly, 1 bonus point earned. Question must be answered at the time that it is asked and students will have a limited amount of time (1 minute) to respond. He/she can utilize peers (only) for help, but the point will only be rewarded to the student paying his/her own stamp. “Team effort” is applicable, but each member must pay a stamp to the earn point. NOTE: if any electronic devices are used for support, this deal is void and no Kudos stamps will be reissued.

“Grace pass” to submit one HW assignment one day late, with no point-value consequence
Can combine stamps from throughout the year. 2 stamps per assignment. Assignment cannot be from any other quarter that has already passed. Maximum of one school day for “grace” per assignment.

candy bar (large Hershey’s, Reese’s, M&Ms, Sour Patch Kids, Skittles, etc)
3 stamps = your choice of one candy bar. May use multiple times (6 stamps = 2 candy bars, etc.) (Ut oh—don’t make me go broke!  )

beverage
(Gatorade, Powerade, Water, Juice, etc.)
3 stamps = your choice of one non-caffeinated beverage. May use multiple times (6 stamps = 2 beverages, etc.) (Ut oh—don’t make me go broke!  )

an opportunity to redo a HW assignment (to earn full credit) that you previously earned a low score on
3 stamps = 1 assignment. Assignment cannot be from any other quarter that has already passed. The assignment MUST be from current grading period.
4 stamps
4 stamps + $1 from each student in the class will provide a video and a “treat”. (Teacher reserves the right to choose the day and treat)
All students in the class must collaborate for this offer to apply. Enough treats will be purchased for each student to participate. Be aware that this will not excuse students from completing necessary curricula, and may require students to complete more work at home instead of in class to allow for a “wasted”/video + treat day. 
4 stamps
Earn back the points that were deducted on an assignment when you previously submitted it late. OR
Submit a currently-MISSING assignment without being penalized for its tardiness.
5 stamps = good for one assignment; 10 stamps = 2 assignments, etc. Assignment cannot be from any other quarter that has already passed; assignment cannot be valued at more than 10 points total (therefore will not apply to writing assignments). The assignment MUST be from current grading period.

an opportunity to skip an assignment that is “Kudos worthy” (teacher’s discretion; will be PRE- announced). Other conditions apply. 
This offer is not valid if you have any missing assignments for the current quarter, or if you are currently earning a below-70% class average.

5 stamps = 5 points added onto the quarter final test (midterm or final exam); Only applicable in 2nd and 4th quarter. Can combine stamps from throughout the year.

10% Bonus Points on midterm or end-of-year (final) exam
Example: If the semester’s final exam (midterm included) is worth 100 points you can add 10 points to your score.
