Derrida's concepts of decentering the centre and supplementarity argue that there is no objective truth or origin outside of language. Language is the free play of signs with no fixed meanings. Any attempt to explain a text creates a new text, and there is no end to the supplemental process of interpreting meanings. We seek truth in texts through language and criticism, but can only find more language to supplement the lack of a definite origin intended by the author.
