The Kosher Food Bank in South Euclid, Ohio provides food to over 4,000 people per month, averaging 1,200 seniors, 1,300 adults, and 1,500 children through 27 monthly distributions and deliveries to four neighborhoods and senior residences. Last year, the food bank distributed over 750,000 pounds of food. It involves the local community through volunteer opportunities for youth groups, schools, synagogues, and residents and also provides nutrition counseling and cooking demonstrations for seniors.
Each year, all of our campuses get involved in organizations, fundraisers, and other activities in our local communities. Supporting the community and helping those who live in the areas we do business is part of our organization’s culture.

Five faith-based organizations and faith communities representing different traditions will share their work to support local farmers, develop community gardens, and increase healthy food accessibility. Attendees will be asked to share best practices from their own faith-based efforts and participate in structured small group discussions, each led by a panelist.

To help those in Imperial County prepare for how the Affordable Care Act will impact work the community, Alliance Healthcare Foundation hosted a workshop on Sept. 11, 2013 at the San Diego Gas & Electric Renewable Energy Resource Center in Imperial County. In this workshop, we explored Covered California enrollment with an overview of multiple health plans and eligibility, discussed the community clinic perspective, and considered its potential impact on the underserved in Imperial County. This workshop was free and included a healthy lunch for all attendees.

The Sisters of Charity of New York run a volunteer program for women ages 18-25 every summer in New York City. A participant of the 2011 program created this presentation about her experience.

Conexión en acción: Latino Library Programs that Connect was presented at the Illinois Library Association 2014 Conference in Springfield, Il by Tina Birkholz and Tina Viglucci of the Gail Borden Public Library in Elgin, IL. It shows examples of some of the Library's partner and customer connections that served to promote and enhance educational success, community engagement, and cultural enrichment among Hispanics in the local community.
The Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank is the largest hunger-relief organization in San Diego County. Last year, the Food Bank distributed 22 million pounds of food, and the Food Bank serves, on average, 400,000 people per month in San Diego County.
