Tropical rainforests are forests found in warm, wet regions of Africa, Central and South America, and Southeast Asia. They support about 50% of the world's plant and animal species despite covering only 6% of the Earth's land surface. Tropical rainforests are also called equatorial rainforests because they are located near the equator between the Tropic of Cancer and the Tropic of Capricorn.
