Editor's Notes

  3. Pure Chemistry and Pure Physics OR Science (Physics / Chemistry)
  4. The key programmes for the Sec 2s include the EL fiesta which will be held over two days in April. It is a platform to showcase the talents of the sec 2s in EL oral skills especially story-telling skills and in EL related games. The activities are organized to engage the pupils and to imbue a sense of love for the language. The Newsmaker programme serves to give the pupils the freedom to express themselves and they will be trained to be expert newscasters and even to recreate their own news and in the process be knowledgeable, articulate and confident pupils.
  5. Maths Fiesta a day of activities with games, puzzles & quizzes Maths Corner set up during recess for the lower sec pupils game stations with games and competitions

Science Centre Learning Journey Interact with the science centre exhibits – brings to life the scientific concepts learnt in the classroom Stimulate their interest to learn beyond what is taught in class Green Audit Project Work Raise awareness on environmental issues Create innovative and scientific solutions Practice project management skills and working with people
  7. Math & Science Trail Fun tasks to complete – learn more about Math & Science, and learn how to work with people (team effort) SembXperience Science Booth Demonstrate to P6 students some of the interesting science lessons in SMB Students learn to speak clearly and confidently to their juniors Gourmet Garden Project The 2NT pupils will do a Gourmet Garden Project in collaboration with the Science Dept this year where they will be allocated a small plot of land within the school to cultivate spices, herbs and other plants. These will be harvested and given to pupils doing Home Economics. The hands-on nature of this project will appeal to the pupils.
  8. CCM – strengthen pupils’ multi-racial exposure, experience another Mother Tongue Language and culture in Singapore The CCM is a 20-hour school-based enrichment for Secondary 1 and 2 pupils. Reading Programme – exposes pupils to different genres of books to promote love for reading. Includes hands-on activities so that pupils can relate to the text.

  10. Integrated Humanities programme - inter-relationship of Geography and History in the world today. Geography – understanding the environment better, History - reason behind the development of civilization and people living in the environment. IH - a story that revolves around river and people is designed, reference to history and geography Collaborative learning - main way in which lessons are taught. Group activities - projects and games. E.g. Guise Competition and Humanities Games Day. Develop greater independence & confidence in their learning  more self-directed. Study skills such as mindmaps, graphic organizers and mnemonics. Helps them in revision.
  11. Practical application such as map reading. Basic skills taught at Secondary One level. More skills as they proceed to Secondary Two and Upper Secondary levels. Pupils will slowly gain competence and confidence in managing the upper secondary Combined Humanities subject.
