An online survey of 1050 consumers was conducted by SSI to understand perceptions of large format billboards. The results showed that over half of respondents see billboards everyday or several times a week, most commonly while commuting to and from work or shopping. Websites and telephone numbers were found to be the most useful information displayed, and large format billboards were considered the easiest outdoor advertising format to read. Respondents generally felt billboards catch their eye and provide something to look at outside. Various products and services were also deemed well-suited for billboard advertising according to the research.
