This document discusses the growing maturity of qualitative research tools and methods. It makes three key points: 1) Qualitative research software, training, literature, and infrastructure have advanced significantly in recent decades. Tools now allow for closer interaction with data and more sophisticated analysis. 2) Evaluation and review of qualitative research has also matured, with established standards and expectations for rigor and linking questions to methods. 3) While qualitative research has become more specialized in certain areas, there is also a trend toward reintegration and collaboration across disciplines. New technologies may further enable data and knowledge sharing.
