A woman known as a sinner comes to a dinner where Jesus is eating at a Pharisee's house. She washes his feet with her tears, drying them with her hair and kissing his feet. The Pharisee is indignant that Jesus would let such a sinful woman touch him. Jesus tells a parable about forgiveness of debt to illustrate that those who are forgiven much, love much. He tells the Pharisee that the woman's sins are forgiven because of her faith and love, so she should go in peace.
A rich man makes a poor choice! mark 10 17-31 - oct 27, 2013John Smith
The document is a sermon about Jesus' encounter with a rich young ruler as recorded in Mark 10. It discusses how the ruler valued his wealth over following Jesus and entering the kingdom of God. The sermon warns that material wealth can spiritually ensnare people and recommends divesting dependence on riches while investing in God's kingdom. It encourages embracing Jesus as the pearl of great price rather than walking away from him like the rich young ruler did.
This document discusses the difference between being a "fan" or a "follower" of Jesus, and encourages Christians to evangelize obediently. It notes that Jesus commanded his followers to go make disciples of all nations. While many people are ready to respond to the gospel, they just don't know how, so believers must evangelize regularly in their neighborhoods rather than waiting for specialists. Evangelism involves bringing people to faith in Christ and teaching them to obey all of Jesus' commands. Christians are called to "fish for people" and share the message of reconciliation with others.
The document discusses how Christians can help shape culture through modeling godly character, producing excellent work, showing grace and love, influencing culture, speaking truth and justice, and sharing the gospel message. It provides several biblical examples of people who impacted their culture, such as Paul in Athens and David in ancient Israel. The overall message encourages believers to spread their light and be salt in the world in order to transform society rather than conforming to current norms.
The document appears to be a summary of Acts 16:11-21 from the Bible. It describes Paul and Silas traveling to various cities, including Philippi, where they met with women by a river to preach the gospel. One woman, Lydia, believed and was baptized. Paul then encountered a slave girl who could predict the future due to a demonic spirit. Paul commanded the spirit to come out of her, which it did. The slave owners were angry about losing their income and had Paul and Silas arrested.

When Jesus made His final triumphant return entry into Jerusalem the people laid their coats on the ground and shouted, "Hosanna to the Son of David!" Their hope and respect for Jesus was obvious. The Pharisees however had a different reaction, accusing Him of blasphemy because he accepted their praise. Five days later that same adoring crowd was screaming, "Crucify Him! Crucify Him!" What changed?
The Road to Emmaus is unique to Luke, the only Gentile author in the Bible. The two disciples were a man and ? - that's all Luke states & anything else is conjecture. At times, we need divine chastisement to believe what we already know - suffering for Messiah was not an option. The Word of God (both resurrected & written) is vital to understanding. What we do alone in our faith should be done with others as well so we can share our hearts.

These customs allowed them to turn the world upside down and have an influence that is still felt today. The document encourages developing such customs to achieve a high level of impact.

- To assert his authority. As a clan leader and wealthy man, Okonkwo uses violence and threats of violence to demand respect and obedience from others. He believes ruling through fear is an effective form of leadership.
- To resolve conflicts. When disputes or conflicts arise, Okonkwo's default approach is to respond with physical force rather than diplomacy. He believes violence is the qu
The document discusses the role of business and work in God's kingdom. It provides context on the history of business and how nations prospered through business that was consecrated to God. It discusses that God gives the ability to create wealth in order to establish His kingdom on Earth. The size and potential influence of believers in the workplace and business is reviewed, noting they currently only have about 1% of the total market share. The purpose and calling of business and work is presented as solving problems and meeting human needs while being a platform for societal transformation and influence for the kingdom of God.
The document discusses seeking the kingdom of God and living among others. It advocates building inclusive communities of 5-20 and 15-45 people to live life together, support each other, and love their friends and neighbors without an agenda. The goal is to foster spiritual curiosity and dismantle consumerism by listening, celebrating together, and doing life's journey with others in a way that witnesses to the gospel through joy, love, peace and righteousness.

The document discusses teaching the Bible through a narrative lens rather than a topical one. It notes that viewing the Bible as a cohesive story, from Creation to Christ's return, allows the full context of passages to be understood rather than taking passages out of context. It warns that topical teaching risks putting human opinions above scriptural truth and can lead to biblical illiteracy. The document advocates teaching the biblical narrative and helping students see their own story within the overarching story of God.
Tackling racism, prejudice and social divisions in our nation needs more than just words - it takes a Kingdom mindset to build the rainbow nation we all dream of.
This sermon outline by Brian Helsby (Heartlines Project Director, former National Director of Youth for Christ and husband of Megan Helsby) will inspire and challenge us to act on racism in order to build the Kingdom.
Jesus was giving peter the keys to the kingdom of heavenGLENN PEASE
This is a study of Jesus giving to Peter the keys to the kingdom of heaven. There are different ways this text has been interpreted, and they are dealt with here.
The document discusses the story of King Manasseh of Judah, the son of the righteous King Hezekiah. Manasseh initially led Judah into sin by worshipping false gods. However, God caused Manasseh to repent after he was taken captive. Manasseh humbled himself and prayed to God, and God forgave him, accepting his repentance. The document notes that God will accept sincere repentance from anyone, no matter how sinful their past, if they humbly turn back to Him.
The document provides context on living out the Gospel message of God's kingdom. It discusses how the world is broken and in tension between God's kingdom being present but not yet fully realized. James' letter speaks to this tension by calling Christians to live according to the kingdom's values through both faith and good works, and avoid being shaped by other worldly forces that oppose the Gospel. The document examines how Christians can envision themselves as a new alternative community living out the kingdom amid resistance from the surrounding culture.
Child of God, I don't use the word "violent" at my choosing, but God's Word tells us to literally get violent and use our God-given force (spiritual energy).now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force. If you want to make a breakthrough in your finances, then determine right now in your mind that you are going to take whatever action is necessary to crush the devil's wall of containment around your finances, removing the limitations of that invisible wall
and breaking through, by force and violence, into a
new level of understanding and knowledge in the area
of your finances. You probably already have much spiritual energy from God's Word in you. This book will put even more
and more of that spiritual energy into you through a better and broader understanding of His Word. All of a sudden, you will realize that His Word is concentrated so strongly in you that you now have enough spiritual energy to come with violent spiritual force against the invisible wall that is resisting you and
pushing against your finances and blow those walls asunder!
You will charge forth into newly discovered wealth and prosperity, receiving literally more than enough to help finance every worthwhile Christian ministry that God directs you to help.
And from the days of John the Baptist until
The students and participants in the Bible correspondence course provided glowing reviews of the course and its benefits. One reviewer said their fingers were arthritic but they enjoyed copying the scriptures. Another said they didn't want to stop studying to eat. A third said their mind seemed to open up and draw in the knowledge like a sponge. The reviews showed that the course was highly educational and helped many better understand the Bible.
The document discusses the importance of churches building trust and confidence within their local communities. It suggests that churches can help meet community needs and gain social capital by partnering with secular leaders to provide social services. Examples are given from the Bible of Joseph, Daniel, and Ezra winning favor with pagan rulers and then using that influence to help their people. The document argues that Adventist churches should focus on sharing their health message, as helping the community with physical needs can open doors to share spiritual truths. When churches serve their communities well, the communities will miss them if the churches disappeared.
The document discusses the mission and vision of a Sunday school class called Pathways. It aims to (1) enhance relationships with God and follow Jesus' teachings, (2) better support the church's mission, and (3) serve class members' needs. The class wants to grow in faith, promote Christian principles, and appeal to a diverse range of ages using technology. It emphasizes being non-rigid and applicable to daily life.
This course will discuss the biblical concept of Marturia as being God's prophetic voice by engaging society with biblical truth. Marturia is advancing the cause of Jesus Christ by bearing witness to the transformation the Good News brings.

1. The document summarizes quotes from influential figures who dismissed new technologies and ideas that later became mainstream successes. It encourages seeing "problems as possibility stones" and focusing on goals rather than obstacles.
2. It discusses the importance of vision, passion for creating a better world, and focusing on values rather than letting negative people pour "cold water" on ideas.
3. The conclusion emphasizes speaking positively, believing in possibilities, working together for growth, and remembering that progress requires going beyond what is merely "very good."

This document discusses understanding oneself and one's purpose. It notes that to know who you are, you need to understand what has influenced you, including family, history, education, traditions, religion/faith, genes, environment, friends, heroes, and language. It emphasizes the powerful influence of values, morals, and having a compass for life. It stresses the need to question these influences and ask questions about one's purpose and potential. It addresses the importance of choosing who to follow and what beliefs to adopt about oneself in order to understand what is inside you.

2. We need to Love the City.
London is a great City and I love it.
3. Sheep and Fields
Sorry to say to all those Christians who love the ‘pastoral ‘
approach of Sheep and fields, you need to go back to your
Bible and ask the question what is it that God has promised
us – actually he has promised us a City!
4. Rev 21:2 A.V.
And
The Message
Then I, John, saw the holy city, New
Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from
God, prepared as a bride adorned for her
husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from heaven
saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with
men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall
be His people. God Himself will be with them and
be their God.
2I saw Holy Jerusalem, new-created, descending
resplendent out of Heaven, as ready for God as a
bride for her husband. 3-5I heard a voice thunder
5. However much as I love my City, I also
recognise that it needs to be affected
by THE KINGDOM and I need to be a
KINGDOM SEEKER. So I need to seek
and find the Kingdom in my City. In
fact we if we are the people of God
have the capacity to pull down
Kingdom into this time space world of
Kingdom
6. And in good ACE background
training we do that by engaging –
getting involved - getting our
hands dirty and seeking to change
the culture on which the city is
based or stands and to quote ACE
it stands on the four legs that
mould and make culture.
We Need To Change The City And Its
Culture
7. 1. Politics
2. Arts and Media
3. Education
4. Business
These are:
These are very big areas, I’m determined that I would
not just theorise on these issues, but rather seek to
engage with them. To seek to find Kingdom in the areas
that moulds and make.
8. Politics
Affects so much, it is those areas
that govern and control
I had a dream that maybe we
should, ‘the followers of the way’ be the
moulders of things like Social
Services, let me tell you it did not start
with Government, it was people of faith
that first saw the need to change and
mend these areas. So we opened a
company called

11. Housing and Support for young 18 year olds who are

14. Education
Again, let me say it was not really government
that had the big ideas. Here it was people like
Robert Rakes who founded the Sunday School
movement. He wanted to help poor youngsters
read and write so that they could understand
Scripture. It was Sunday School because that
was the only day they were not working and could
learn.
So many people accuse me of brainwashing
children. My answer is what do you think that
others are doing. Many of us need our brains
washed. We need a Kingdom focus in our lives
We need to educate our children, it is a powerful
force for the future, and it really is putting in
