Joshua 3b

  1. 1. Courage of Faith November 8, 2009
  2. 2. Stopped Prayed Waited on God Cleansing Dedication Consecration
  3. 3. 6 And Joshua spake unto the priests, saying, Take up the ark of the covenant, and pass over before the people. And they took up the ark of the covenant, and went before the people. Leadership Who had to step into the flooded river? The priests.
  4. 4. We must have the courage to step out on our faith.
  5. 5. 7 And the Lord said unto Joshua, This day will I begin to magnify thee. Go in the sight of all Israel, that they may know that, as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee. 8 And thou shalt command the priests that bear the ark of the covenant, saying, When ye are come to the brink of the water of Jordan, ye shall stand still in Jordan .
  6. 6. 9 And Joshua said unto the children of Israel, Come hither, and hear the Words of the Lord your God. God's men have always said this, are still saying it, and will always say , "Come and hear the Words of God."
  7. 7. 1 Corinthians 3 18 Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise. 19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness. There is no Creator; it's all an accident of nature. Man is just the highest of the animals. Man is no better than any other animal. We're destroying the planet. A baby in the womb is not a human being.
  8. 8. Proverbs 1 7 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction. Genesis 1 1 In the beginning God created the Heaven and the earth. Genesis 1 27 So God created man in His Own image, in the image of God created He him; male and female created He them.
  9. 9. Proverbs 3 7 Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the Lord, and depart from evil. Psalms 37 3 Trust in the Lord, and do good ; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed. 4 Delight thyself also in the Lord; and He shall give thee the desires of thine heart. 5 Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in Him; and He shall bring it to pass.
  10. 10. 10 And Joshua said, Hereby ye shall know that the living God is among you, and that He will without fail drive out from before you the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Hivites, and the Perizzites, and the Girgashites, and the Amorites, and the Jebusites. God will never fail His people.
  11. 11. 11 Behold, the Ark of the Covenant of the Lord of all the earth passeth over before you into Jordan. 12 Now therefore take you twelve men out of the tribes of Israel, out of every tribe a man. 13 And it shall come to pass, as soon as the soles of the feet of the priests that bear the Ark of the Lord, the Lord of all the earth, shall rest in the waters of Jordan, that the waters of Jordan shall be cut off from the waters that come down from above; and they shall stand upon an heap.
  12. 12. 14 And it came to pass, when the people removed from their tents, to pass over Jordan, and the priests bearing the ark of the covenant before the people; 15 And as they that bare the ark were come unto Jordan, and the feet of the priests that bare the ark were dipped in the brim of the water, (for Jordan overfloweth all his banks all the time of harvest,)
  13. 13. 16 That the waters which came down from above stood and rose up upon an heap very far from the city Adam, that is beside Zaretan: and those that came down toward the sea of the plain, even the salt sea, failed, and were cut off: and the people passed over right against Jericho. 17 And the priests that bare the ark of the covenant of the Lord stood firm on dry ground in the midst of Jordan, and all the Israelites passed over on dry ground, until all the people were passed clean over Jordan.
  14. 14. Though the place named “Adam” is found only here it is usually iden-tified with Tell ed-Damiyeh, about 16 miles north of the ford opposite Jericho. A wide stretch of riverbed therefore was dried up, allowing the people with their animals and baggage to hurry across. The Bible Knowledge Commentary:
  15. 15. The priests stood firm in faith , believing God to keep them safe from the flood. Ephesians 6 13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all , to stand .
  16. 16. When we prayerfully put all our trust in God Almighty and His Word Through Jesus Christ His Son, We will stand true and faithful to the end.
