Proverbs 25:15 By long forbearing is a prince
persuaded, and a soft tongue breaketh the bone.
(NIV) 15 Through patience a ruler can be
persuaded, and a gentle tongue can break a bone.
Patience and gentle words are far more
effective means of persuasion,
Than losing your temper and harsh words.
3. This kind of angry words will start a fight, but
3
they end with nothing accomplished.
There is no persuasion going on.
4. 16 Hast thou found honey? eat so much as is
sufficient for thee, lest thou be filled therewith, and
vomit it. 17 Withdraw thy foot from thy neighbor's
house; lest he be weary of thee, and so hate thee.
4
These two verses go together:
Too much honey will make you sick, and too much
time at your neighbor’s house will make him sick.
God is the exception to this.
He wants us to come to Him,
the more often the better.
5. Overdoing anything can create problems.
Philippians 4 5 Let your moderation be known unto
all men. The Lord is at hand.
5
Temperance, which is self-restraint, is
produced in us by the Holy Spirit.
We can live a life of godly moderation.
7. 18 A man that beareth false witness against his
neighbor is a maul, and a sword, and a sharp arrow.
7
Again and again we are admonished to be
honest and straight-forward.
Don’t lie about anything, but especially don’t
tell lies on someone.
Hurtful!

19 Confidence in an unfaithful man in time of
trouble is like a broken tooth, and a foot out of
joint.
1 Corinthians 1 9 God is faithful, by Whom ye
were called unto the fellowship of His Son Jesus
Christ our Lord.
We are His children; let us be faithful.
9. 9
20 As he that taketh away a
garment in cold weather, and
as vinegar upon nitre, so is he
that singeth songs to an heavy
heart.
Romans 12 15 Rejoice with them that do rejoice,
and weep with them that weep.
10. 21 If thine enemy be hungry, give him bread to eat;
and if he be thirsty, give him water to drink: 22 For
thou shalt heap coals of fire upon his head, and the
LORD shall reward thee.
Sometimes a person’s fire went out and he needed
to borrow some live coals to restart his fire. Giving
a person coals in a pan to carry home “on his head”
was a neighborly, kind act; it made friends, not
enemies.

11. Romans 5 8 But God commendeth His love toward
us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died
for us.
The Lord didn’t wait to see what we would do.
He died to save us, whether we
accepted His sacrifice or not.

12. James 4 4 Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye
not that the friendship of the world is enmity with
God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the
world is the enemy of God.
God loves even His enemies; He loves even
12
those who choose a life of sin over Him.
We need to be as generous as our Father.
