It takes so long time to open a proguram.
So long time is to one minutes from a few seconds that we can enjoy eating ice cream.
Now computers
This machine can work faster than old one that is used in five years ago .
We can know now machine is how fast this works .
CPU is
CPU understands that we want to do .
CPU is like blain we have in the computer.
The latest machine has
The machine has OS to divide so many program once we want running .
The science project
We want to measure time that the machine works to use operation :addition, subtraction,
multiplication, and division.
The machine has data that is 8,16,32 and 64 bits.
The data measured
We can understand the six data .
The differences of type two computers compare times to use programing instantly.
It is hard to measure execution time of a single process that now machine has OS.
We have questions 1
Which data type do you expect the test computer to process fastest?
Do you anticipate which computers are processed most slowly?
We have question 2
A computer used to process 8-bit numbers, or bytes for calculation.
On modern computers, use 32 or 64 bit numbers for simple calculations. How do you think it
affects the results you saw?
If these tests were actually able to run on an old computer that was working with 8-bit numbers
(we needed to do 4 operations to do a 32 bit addition), how is the result different Is it?
Experience
The basic form of this experiment is to do some experiments using one of the Science Buddies
servers.
The material list
The material list contains Python and C program source code. The Python program is written to
work with Python 3.x. This is available on Windows, OS X, Linux
Experience 2
The command a instructs the computer to perform operations on numeric values. This number
can be one of several integer types, floating point numbers, or double precision floating point
numbers, depending on the option you select. Operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication,
or division) are performed on the numbers stored in memory, depending on the option selected.
Is more better ?
We need to research for the average time .So we can research two difference code .
Python:
The supplied Python code runs on most computers using Python 3. We recommend running
Python interactive editor IDLE and loading the code into the editor.
C: The provided C code was written and tested for the GCC Linux compiler, but it works with
POSIX compliant C compiler as well. 'Make file' tells the GCC compiler what to build. From the
command line, type "make" to build the default executable program. '
Analyzing
Calculate the average processing time for each combination using a calculator such as Excel or a
spreadsheet program.
Create four bar graphs to see if the time required for a computer to perform a single kind of
mathematical operation (such as addition) varies with a different data type.
