This document summarizes the Pontian Greek genocide that occurred from 1914-1923 in the Ottoman Empire. It provides statistics on the number of Pontian Greeks killed - over 353,000 from cities in northern Turkey. The genocide was carried out through massacres, deportation marches with few survivors, and burning Greeks alive in buildings. By 1923 over 300,000 Pontian Greeks had been killed as part of the ethnic cleansing campaign by the Turkish nationalists. Survivors fled to Greece or were displaced through population exchanges after the Greek-Turkish war. The genocide is now recognized by several countries and organizations but remains insufficiently known internationally.
