Jesus performed two miracles of healing. He healed a demon-possessed girl whose mother came to him from Tyre and Sidon, praising the woman's great faith after healing her daughter. He also healed a deaf man with a speech impediment. Jesus took the man aside from the crowd, put his fingers in the man's ears and touched his tongue, saying "Ephphatha" which means "be opened". The man's ears were opened and his tongue was freed so he could speak clearly. Both miracles demonstrated Jesus' power to perform healings through his divine authority.

Healing a demon-possessed girl - (Matthew15:21-28).
Then Jesus said to her, “Woman, you have great faith! You will be given what you are asking
for.” And her daughter was healed at that moment”-(Matthew 15: 28).
WhenJesuswasin the area of Tyre andSidon,a Gentile womanapproachedJesusandaskedhimtoheal
herdaughterwhowas possessedbyademon.Afterspeakingwiththe woman,he praisedherforher
faithand toldherthat herdaughterwas healed.Asexplainedinthe Gospel of Matthew:
Jesus left Galileeandwent to the area of Tyre and Sidon. 22

Sidon.She came to him andcried out, “Lord!Son of David!Have mercy on me! A demoncontrols my

Jesusdid notsay a word. So hisdisciplescame to him.They
begged him,“Sendher away.She keeps cryingout after us.”24

people ofIsrael. They are like lostsheep.”

Then the womanfell to her knees infront of him.“Lord!Help me!” she said.26
Hereplied, “Itis not
right to take the children’sbreadand throw it to the dogs.”27
“Yesitis,Lord,” she said.“Even the dogs
eat the crumbsthat fall from their owner’s table.”28
ThenJesussaidto her, “Woman,youhave great
faith!Youwill be givenwhat you are askingfor.” And her daughter was healedat that moment”-

The Gospelsteachus that whereasJesusdiedforthe sinsof all people,andwhileanypersonwhohas
faithinJesusas the Son of God as explainedin John3:16-18, “Godsoloved the world that he gave his
one and onlySon.Anyone who believesin himwill not die but will have eternal life. 17

The womanreferredtoJesusas the "Sonof David,"perhapsbecause she realizedhe isthe Messiah.The
prophetsof the OldTestamenthadpreviouslyrevealedthatthe Messiahwouldbe adescendantof King

“ Jesus looked up to heaven. With a deep sigh, he said to the man, “Ephphatha!” That means
“Be opened!” 35 The man’s ears were opened. His tongue was freed up, and he began to speak
clearly”(Mark 7:34-35).

2. AfterJesusleftthe regionof Tyre,some peoplebroughttohima manwho wasdeaf and had difficulty

couldhardlyspeak. They beggedJesus to place hishand onthe man.

Jesusordered the peoplenot to tell anyone. But the more he didso, the more they kept talking
aboutit. 37
People were really amazed.“He has done everythingwell,” they said.“He even makes deaf
people ableto hear. And he makes those who can’t speakable to talk.”- (Mark7:31-37).
