Jesus was born to the virgin Mary around 2000 years ago in Bethlehem. According to the gospels of Matthew and Luke, Mary became pregnant with Jesus through the Holy Spirit while still being a virgin engaged to Joseph. An angel told Joseph in a dream not to divorce Mary, explaining that the child conceived in her was from the Holy Spirit. Mary gave birth to Jesus, fulfilling prophecies that the messiah would be born of a virgin. Jesus' virgin birth is considered one of the miracles of his life.
