  1. Hello everyone, my name is Anqi. Today I am very excited to introduce a new app that my company has just designed for you. It’s name is 161Things. It will challenge your way of following the college tradition. So let’s have a look.
  2. Before I present the app, I want you all to help me complete a survey. Please raise your hand if any of following description sounds very familiar to you  Ok, I see some great particpations  Good job. As you can tell, these are some items listed on 161 things that Cornell students should do before they graduate. Some of them might be very specific to Cornell but most of them exist to encourage a shared experience among students. And this is the purpose of our app : to boost a shared experience among people in the same community.
  3. So our app 161Things is a fun app that inputs College tradition or other type of tradition as a checklist. It allows users to check-in, comment or posting regarding the items on the checklist. Most importantly, the social feature of the app enables users to share with their friends about their experience with items on their checklist.
  4. According to Entreprenur.com, business opportunity is a packaged business investment that allows the buyer to begin a business. So basically it answers this question: why customers need our app? Well, it is very simple. It gives sociality to traditional checklists. Also, it adds knowledge to your database regarding the items on the checklist from your friends, rather than just from online search engine. Our customer can get reliable, referable information regarding their to-do list from their peers. On the same time, they can share their experience, whether good or bad, in an arranged order with their peers.
  5. People like to share their experience and knowledge. They also prefer information from their friends regarding more personal experiences. This is why as you can see from our target customers, our product serves beyond college students. It can actually accompany you at different stage of your life. No matter if you are young professionals, engaged couples or you have already raised a family, our app will grow with you and help you connect with people who share same experience with you. You can have a look at what your peers are doing at a different stage. By actively using our app, you can see your friends’ feeling towards each item on their engagement checklist or a family road trip checklist.
  6. After we discover our customers, we can now have a close look at the cost and benefit of our app. The table on the right shows that most of the popular mobile apps in the market doesn’t have a social feature. However, for those apps that have this function, they can be quite expensive or the community it includes is very limited. On The left, I also list three benefits : price advantage, social feature and pre-loaded checklists.
  7. Here are two unique features we believe will set our app apart. They are pre-loaded checklist and social media function. The small circles surrounding these two big functions are specific examples of the function.
  8. Even though we deeply believe in our product, we have to admit that there are inevitable obstacles in front of us. Here are three of them: there is sever competition from other apps in the iTunes stores. We have a very young team, the average age of the team member is in the early 20s. Also, we need more investment on the marketing research segment to understand more about the market. These are obstacles but, to some extent, I prefer to view them as risks that can bring us opportunities as well.
  9. As we are still an early stage start-up that focuses on this new mobile app, we will keep track of the usage of our app and using data analytic techniques to analyze the customer behavior. From there we will try to understand our customers better and improve the mobile app accordingly.
