This portfolio document contains summaries of 8 design projects completed by Travis Lanham for a communications design course taught by Vanessa Godfrey. The point of this project was
to create a brochure for a
company.
First I started with some sketches. I was strug-
gling to visualize the pamphlet in my mind, so
I grabbed some paper and folded some actual
brochures and used those for my sketches.
After I had made a few sketches I settled on
having a trifold brochure.
I moved on to setting up a template for my
trifold in Indesign I did a lot of research online
and eventually found a few templates to use
for the folding lines.

The point of this project was
to increase my
understanding of design principles.
first I started by sketching some ideas. I looked
on the internet for inspiration.
I did three different sketches.
I then transferred those sketches to a wire-
frame format in photoshop.
After I had done that I came to a standstill.
I needed a color scheme, I tried my original
scheme. However, after consultation with
other up people I decided that the colors were
too jarring. So I did some research online and
found a better color scheme.
Next I went to work finding pictures. I then
placed them in the designated spots. Then I
finished off by writing in my text.

was to learn HTML and CSS.
For this project, I decided to change logos to a
different one that I had already designed and
decided that it looked cleaner for a logo.
I downloaded the HTML code and CSS code.
I inserted all of the tags in their proper loca-
tions.
I then started substituting the words in the
document with my own words.
After I had completed that process I linked the
CSS code.

I knew the feel I wanted in my design. So first
I chose a color scheme. Then I went to find a
well framed photo. After I had accomplished
those steps I made a few edits in photoshop,
and then inserted the design I had originally
sketched and planned.

I knew what quote I wanted to use for this
project. The hardest part was finding good
photos. Originally I made it far to compli-
cated trying to add to much to one photo.
I realized that less is more and went with
something simpler.
