Thanksgiving, An Attitude of Gratitude.David Turner
For the Christian, thanksgiving is not an option. We are commanded to give thanks. When we don't give thanks we forget out blessings and become bitter. In all things, Give Thanks!
Wrestling In A Dark World John 15:18-16:4 and Ephesians 6:12-13David Turner
As believers in Jesus Christ we are fighting against the Principalities and Powers of this world. We cannot fight with the methods of the world. We must wrestle in the manner in which Christ wrestled, in the power of the Spirit.

I edited my image in photoshop. In the original image there
was a staircase and rail that I edited out. I then used InDesign
to complete the rest of my cover using the FOCUS process.
I formulated my plan in the sketching and layout phase. I
also organized my design in the sketching and layout phase
but I also I did that along the way. I contrasted my design by
balancing the text elements with the image and the barcode
and I used contrast in the use of color. I selected my colors
out of my original image and balanced all around the page
to create a nice flow to the overall design. I unified the parts
of my design by maintaining the same three fonts through-
out the cover. I also used the rule of hierarchy to prioritize
the focal point and bring it all together. Lastly, I simplified
the message by listening to the critiques from the class, the
instructor, and also my critique meeting with my roommate
and edited the design accordingly.

Photoshop
To create something an image with a quote that people will enjoy.
First off, I had a totally completely different design that I ended
up just not loving so I decided to start fresh with a new concept,
image, and design.
I was actually in Hawaii this past week I snapped a few photos of
the gorgeous sunlight that lit up the sky and the water which defi-
nitely inspired me to go with a Hawaiian theme.
After choosing my image, I put it in Photoshop (sized 8.5 x 11) and
did a little work on it. I played around with the saturation and the
color selection to try to get the sky and sunset as illuminating as
I could and also made the palm trees a little bit darker to give it a
nice silhouette against the colorful sky.
The background of my image was little bit busy so I knew I would
have to create some sort of shape to put the text over if I wanted
it to be legible and not lost in the trees. My image had a natural
complementary color scheme of blue and orange I decided to use
an orange that I pulled out from the sunset (but made it a little
bit darker for prominence) and the same sky blue for the words to
complete my design.

I thought about what I wanted t0 do for my image. I knew I defi-
nitely wanted to do something with Christ’s hands and I knew I
wanted to do the quote “Without him, we’re nothing but to him,
we’re everything”. So the only thing I had to think about was what
I wanted to use that represented us as his children and I thought
sheep were perfect.
I opened up the picture of Christ’s hands in Photoshop and use
the color corrector to change Christ’s robe from white to red so the
white sheep would be able to show up better.
I added the picture of the sheep and by using a layer mask, the
brush tool, and the blending options, I made it look clean, bal-
anced, and have good flow.
I then added the quote using correct typography and colors to
make it look the best it can.
I made sure to follow the basic design principles such as align-
ment, repetition, and flow throughout this entire design.

After my first montage project, I wasn’t really happy without how
it turned out so I knew I wanted to make one that’s even better. I
went through some pictures that I have taken recently and I saw
this one of a river that I really liked. I looked up quotes that have
to do with rivers and I went with it. I used Photoshop to make this
design. I had my roommates look over it to see if they like it and
fixed the little critiques that they had for me.

To create an eye-catching business card and letterhead.
First, I googled different logos to use as inspiration. I found a few
that I liked that I decided to base my design off of.
I opened up Illustrator and created a main design that I wanted to
consistently sue across all of my different designs.
I then started playing around with a few different ideas, one that
is symbol based, one that is typed based and one that is illustra-
tion based.
I took many different people’s votes for their favorite design. The
symbol logo was the fan favorite so I decided to go with that, how-
ever I kept some elements of my other designs when creating my
letterhead and business cards.
I followed all the rules that I learned from the FOCUS Textbook.

To create an eyecatching infographic that allow people can learn
facts.
First I sketched up some ideas of what I wanted to do my info-
graphic on. I had a lot of trouble coming up with an idea.
I finally came up with an idea and opened up a document in Illus-
trator and started designing.
I realized that my design wasn’t anything unique or special so I
went back to square one and started re-sketching. I came up with
a new idea and got to work because I was running a little short on
time. I conducted an interview of 100 BYUI students to find out
what their favorite burger place is.
After doing a little more research for a few extra facts, I had
enough information to start on my new design.

To create an eyecatching website
First I did the activity on CodeAcademy to learn the ropes
I opened the HTML in TextWrangler and got to work on writing
my paragraphs about my logo design process. This was a little bit
tricky so Google was my best friend- it really helped me solve the
little elements I was missing
I opened the CSS in TextWrangler and went to work with style
side of my web design. After a lot of playing around and a lot of
back and forth between TextWrangler and the web browser, I
finally got it the way I wanted it
I validated both my HTML and CSS codes
