In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.

7. Purpose
“Jesus did many other miraculous signs in the
presence of his disciples, which are not
recorded in this book. But these are written
that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ,
the Son of God, and that by believing you may
have life in his name.”
-John 20:30-31
23. Living Water
“My people have committed two sins: They
have forsaken me, the spring of living water,
and have dug their own cisterns, broken
cisterns that cannot hold water.”
-Jeremiah 2:13
34. Able to Sympathize
“For we do not have a high priest who is
unable to sympathize with our weaknesses,
but we have one who has been tempted in
every way, just as we are—yet was without
sin.”
-Hebrews 4:15
35. Unexpressed Words
“In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our
weakness. We do not know what we ought to
pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for
us with groans that words cannot express.”
-Romans 8:26
36. One of Us
What if God was one of us?
Just a slob like one of us?
Just a stranger on the bus
Trying to make his way home.
40. We too must aim to
fully enter into the
existence of others.
41. “Though I am free and belong to no man, I make
myself a slave to everyone, to win as many as possible.
To the Jews I became like a Jew, to win the Jews.
To those under the law I became like one under the
law (though I myself am not under the law), so as to
win those under the law.
To those not having the law I became like one not
having the law (though I am not free from God’s law
but am under Christ’s law), so as to win those not
having the law.
To the weak I became weak, to win the weak.
42. I have become all things to all men so that by all
possible means I might save some.
I do all this for the sake of the gospel, that I may share
in its blessings.”
-1 Cor 9:19-23
