This document provides instructions for students to diagram the plankton they find under a microscope, classify it according to similarities to examples on a provided chart, and identify whether it is an autotroph or heterotroph. Students are then asked to explain how their observed plankton contributes to its marine ecosystem.

Microscope Lab Write Up After you have found your plankton you need to diagram what you see and answer the following questions Diagram the plankton REMEMBER HOW I FEEL ABOUT PICTURES I should be able to look in your microscope and find exactly what plankton you found according to your diagram Classify the plankton according to your chart. It might not be the exact plankton on your chart but you can look at the similarities and differences and make an educated guess Identify whether your plankton is an autotroph or heterotroph Explain How your plankton contributes to its marine ecosystem.
