3. League Description & Modified Rules
MANAGER'SMEETING
This is a special competitive league with certain rules modified from
standard Intramural Sport rules and policies.
Unless noted here or in the 11v11 Soccer Outdoor rules - all intramural
rules and policies will be enforced.
Please pay particularly close attention to the registration requirements of
this league. Teams that do not complete all steps or meet all requirements
will not be scheduled into the league.
Team managers are responsible for reviewing all rules and policies prior to
the close of registration.
Managers are responsible for disseminating this information to every
member of their team.

MANAGER'SMEETING
Can be found online in the Manager’s Information section of the website
Managers must know all relevant policies and communicate them to
their team
Especially important are the policies regarding sportsmanship and
ejections
Note that 3 unsportsmanlike penalties will end a contest in forfeit
Fighting/taunting or specific violations of the code of conduct will result in a forfeit
5. Player Eligibility
MANAGER'SMEETING
All registered students are eligible to play
Undergraduate, graduate and law students
Players may only play on one 1 team per semester
Club Sport Rules:
Only three club sport players may be on a single team roster
Ex-Varsity Athletes:
Must sit out a year and a team can only have one on a team
6. Team Registration Requirements
MANAGER'SMEETING
This league is capped at 24 teams.
Teams will be taken on a first come, first service basis.
The first 24 teams that have met all registration requirements by the close
of registration will be scheduled into the season. All other teams will be
placed on the wait list.
Teams on the wait list will be entered into the league in the order they
registered. If and only if a team scheduled into the league drops from the
competition will teams be entered from the wait list. Teams entering into
the league from the wait list will not be eligible for the post-season.
Teams must have completed the forfeit bond payment prior to the close of
registration in order to be scheduled into the league.
7. Team Registration Requirements
MANAGER'SMEETING
Teams must have a minimum of 11 registered players at the time of the
registration deadline.
Teams without 11 registered players will be placed on the wait list.
Teams with less than 16 registered players MUST accept free agents onto
their roster.
The roster maximum for this league is expanded to 20.
Team managers and players on a team that drop from the competition
after the schedule has been released will not be allowed to join another
team.
Players that have played for a team in the league cannot be subsequently
dropped from that roster.
8. It is the responsibility of the team manager to submit an appropriate team
name at the time of registration
A student panel will review questionably inappropriate team names,
where majority will rule regarding if the team name will be removed
The team name will be changed until the captain resubmits a new team
name that is deemed appropriate

9. Roster Additions

All roster additions must be done online on IMLeagues
May be completed at any time before the player can play

You may not drop a player who has already played on your team

10. Team Registration Scheduling Policies
MANAGER'SMEETING
Games will be played in the Carter Bubble on the following days and times:
Friday 6:00pm to 12:00am
It is the team manager’s responsibility to create a roster of players that
will be available to play during the posted times for this league.
Teams cannot submit, nor will the intramural program accept, requests to
reschedule regular season games.
Teams may default a match via the default form located on the
Campus Recreation website.
11. Jewelry Policy
MANAGER'SMEETING
Jewelry is not allowed to be worn by any intramural sports participants
If a player is found to be wearing jewelry during a game they will be
assessed an unsportsmanlike penalty
Exceptions: religious and medical items
Must be approved by the Director of Spiritual Life and the Intramural Director
at least 5 days prior to the scheduled contest.
12. The Regular Season & Playoffs
MANAGER'SMEETING
Regular season games will not be rescheduled
Losing By Default:
If a team can not play and contacts the intramural department to indicate this and fills
out the Default Form on the Campus Recreation Website, they will lose by default.
Team will not lose the forfeit bond.
Playoffs:
The top team in each league will advance to the playoffs
If two teams are tied in the standings the following will be used to determine who will
advance:
Sportsmanship
Forfeited games
Head to head record
Point differential

13. Forfeits
MANAGER'SMEETING
All teams must pay a $20 forfeit bond by the registration deadline
Teams will lose $10 for every forfeit
2 team forfeits will result in the team being removed from the league
and total loss of the forfeit bond
Unused bonds will be refunded 2-3 weeks after the conclusion
of the season
Game time is forfeit time
It is recommended that teams show up 15 minutes before game time to avoid a forfeit
14. Forfeits Due to Sportsmanship Issues (3 UCs)
MANAGER'SMEETING
Per usual Intramural Sports policy:
Teams that receive more than two unsportsmanlike
penalties (yellow and/or red cards) in one match will
forfeit the match.
Teams that forfeit a match in this manner will
immediately have the remainder of their season
suspended.
Managers from a team in this situation will be contacted
by the Intramural Sports program to discuss the team’s
reinstatement into the league. They will not be able to
resume the season until this meeting is held. Teams with
serious violations of the Intramural Code of
Conduct will not be reinstated.
15. General Rules
MANAGER'SMEETING
All games are played in the Carter Bubble
Must have valid Northeastern ID to participate – No Exceptions.
11 players may be on the field at a time
1 player must be a goal keeper.
Shin-guards are recommended but they are not required.
A minimum of 8 players must be present at game time to avoid a forfeit
There will be 2 halves lasting 20 minutes each
Each half will end on the first deadball situation after time has expired
upon the signal of the referee

16. The Captain’s Rule
MANAGER'SMEETING
Only the captain may clarify calls with the officials
If the team has questions or issues, they need to direct them through
the Captain to the officials
Captain may question rule interpretations but not judgment calls
Players who are not the Captain who argue or question the officials will
receive an unsportsmanlike penalty
17. Substitutions and Timeouts
MANAGER'SMEETING
Teams may substitute players on goal kicks, corner kicks, timeouts, after
half-time and after goals
Players must remain in their designated areas until an official indicates
they may enter play – players failing to do so will receive a yellow card
Players that have received a yellow card must remain off the field and
may only reenter the game on the first dead ball after 2 – 5 minutes (at the
referee’s discretion) or after a goal is scored against their team
Each team may call one timeout per half but only when they have
possession during a goal kick or corner kick
With less than two minutes remaining in the game no substitutions or
timeouts will be permitted
18. Sliding
MANAGER'SMEETING
There is absolutely no sliding permitted
All slides result in an automatic yellow card
Sliding into a player is a red card
After a slide, the ball is put back into play with a direct free kick
Goal Keepers may only come out hands first or to the side – any other
slides by the goal keeper will result in the same punishment as a field
player. Slides in a defender’s goalie area will result in a penalty kick
Judging whether a player’s action constitutes a slide or not is at the sole
discretion of the officials – arguing or dissenting from their call will result
in further unsportsmanlike penalties
19. Goal Keepers
MANAGER'SMEETING
Teams must have a goal keeper at all times
Keepers may not be pulled and replaced with a field player
Goal keepers may use their hands inside the designated goalie box
Goal keepers MAY kick or throw the ball in the air across mid-field.
Goal keepers CANNOT handle a ball passed back to them from one of
their own players.
Goal Keepers may only come out hands first or to the side – any other
slides by the goal keeper will result in the same punishment as a field
player.
20. Field of Play and Out of Bounds
MANAGER'SMEETING
The field of play will be bordered by lines and cones
All of the ball must cross all of the line to be considered out of bounds
The ball is also considered out if it touches one of the sideline cones
Balls that go out on the sidelines will be put back into play via a throw in
Balls that go out on the end line will be put back into play via a goal kick
or corner kick
Offsides will be enforced in this league
There is no restriction on being in the box before the ball in this league
21. Encroachment and Free Kicks
MANAGER'SMEETING
All defensive players must yield 10 yards on all free kicks and throw ins
Failure to do so will result in an encroachment penalty
Encroachment is punishable by yellow card
Players that deliberately attempt to delay a restart will also be given a
yellow card
For any dead ball situation the team restarting play will be given a 5
count to put the ball back into play
22. Yellow Cards
MANAGER'SMEETING
There is absolutely no sliding
A slide will result in an automatic yellow card
Dissenting behavior will result in an
automatic yellow card
Captains may question rule interpretations but not
judgment calls
Yellow cards carry a two minute power play
penalty
This may be extended to five minutes at the
discretion of the official
Player may reenter the game on the first dead ball
after 2 minutes or after a goal is scored against
their team
23. Red Cards
MANAGER'SMEETING
A second yellow card constitutes a red card
One serious violation will result in a red card
Red cards carry an automatic ejection from
the game and the facility
Teams must play short a player for the remainder
of the match
Red cards will be issued for the following
Unsporting or violent conduct
Spitting
A second yellow card
Using insulting, offensive or abusive language
Leaving the bench area to enter the field
during a fight or altercation
Taunting
24. Ejections in Elite 11v11 League
MANAGER'SMEETING
Ejected players must leave the facility within five
minutes or their team will forfeit
Players who have been ejected must meet with
the Intramural Director or an appointed official
25. Ejections in Elite 11v11 League
MANAGER'SMEETING
Any player ejected from a game in this league for
violation of the sportsmanship policies will
automatically be banned from participating in any
further games in this league for the remainder of the
season.
This includes but is not limited to:
the accumulation of two yellows in one match
a straight red card for unsportsmanlike
behavior
post-match behavior that is deemed by the
officials or intramural supervisor to be
unsportsmanlike in nature
26. Carter Air Structure (Bubble) Rules
MANAGER'SMEETING
Enter and exit ONLY through the revolving doors located on Columbus
Ave.
Only ONE person may enter the doors at a time.
In order to enter the structure, you must present your Husky Card.
Emergency Exits should be used only in the case of an emergency.
Improper use of the emergency exits will result in ejection from the game, suspension
from all intramural programming, referral to NUPD and O.S.C.C.R.
When an emergency is declared, all users are expected to follow and
comply with any reasonable direction given by authorized personnel.
No bikes, scooters, long boards or other similar items in the structure.
The air structure has a max capacity of 149 occupants.
Teams and participants will only be permitted into the structure 15 minutes prior to their
game. Players will have to wait outside the Bubble until it is time for their team to enter.

No metal spikes are allowed.
