HBOC continued expanding its product line in the late 1970s and 1980s through both internal development and acquisitions. In 1975, HBOC developed its financial system called IFAS to complement its clinical system MEDPRO. In 1981, HBOC acquired Medical Data Corporation, founded by pioneer Ralph Korpman, and its clinical lab system ClinPro. In 1985, two major acquisitions expanded HBOC's offerings significantly - management consulting firm Amherst Associates and mainframe software vendor Mediflex. This catapulted HBOC to the number 2 spot in annual revenue in the hospital information systems industry by the late 1980s.
