The document provides a topical study on the second article of the Apostles' Creed concerning redemption. It includes an acrostic poem on redemption, hymns about Christ's redemptive work, and discussion questions focusing on different aspects of Christ's role as redeemer in scripture and theology. Key points covered include Christ redeeming humanity from sin, death, and the devil through his suffering, death, and resurrection in order to purchase and win believers for himself.
Jesus was the sender of the holy spiritGLENN PEASE
This is a study of Jesus being the sender of the Holy Spirit. Jesus received the promised Spirit from the Father and then He poured it out on His church at Pentecost. He was the one who sent the Holy Spirt into the world and His church.
This is a collection of writings dealing with the washing of believers by the Holy Spirit. It has many ramifications such as baptism, water, cleansing from sin. Other issues are also involved .

This is a study of Jesus being the head of every man. God was the head of Jesus, man was the head of women, and Jesus was the head of man. It is all about headship and order.
The holy spirit proclaims freedom for the captivesGLENN PEASE
This is a collection of writings dealing with the Holy Spirit proclaiming freedom and delivery from captivity. This can be freedom from a host of sins and situations where people are in
bondage.
This is a study of Jesus making a new covenant to replace the Old Testament covenant. He made it possible by the blood He poured out for the forgiveness of sins.
This is a study of Jesus being with God in the beginning. He had His beginning with God because He was God and was not a created being. He was eternal just as the Father was.
This is a study of Jesus being without decay in the tomb. His body say no corruption for He was not subject to death in any way. He conquered death and it had to power to corrupt His body.
This is a collection of writings dealing with the Holy Spirit pointing to the Messiah who was to come, but confusing to the prophets and even the angels who could not solve the mystery.
Why, then, did our Lord perform miracles of healing ? Not
to convince people that he was the Messiah, but because he pos-
sessed that divine love and power which made him the Messiah.
He wrought no miracle for the purpose of convincing men of
his Messiahship. From the first, indeed, this constituted one of
his typical, normal temptations. The people expected that by
some stupendous sign, such as leaping from the temple roof and
alighting unhurt in the court below, the Messiah would declare
himself. But any such sign, wholly disconnected from the spirit-
ual character of his work

"All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works."
by Fr. George Morelli
The presentation below was given to the Orthodox Peace Fellowship [an endorsed organization of the Assembly of Canonical Orthodox Bishops of America] Annual Meeting, held in Madison, Wisconsin on September 16-18 2011. I have consistently written on forgiveness as central to the teachings and practice of Christ Himself and the necessity of our emulation of this forgiveness to bring peace to those around us and achieve our own sanctification. Many of these articles are posted on Orthodoxy Today [www.orthodoxytoday.org/archive/morelli] and the Antiochian Archdiocese [http://www.antiochian.org/author/morelli] website.
We are studying the Trinity and Salvation. As we do so I am taking us through a number of words like atonement, propitiation and justification. Today we specifically studied the word redemption and what this means to us a Christians.

One of the first PowerPoints that I made when teaching theology. It is crazy. It has animations, links to further slides, and terrible graphics. But it is fun share and does give an accurate view of the history of Christianity. (Although the animations and links don't work in this slideshare.)

6. Schindler: They fear us because we have the power to kill arbitrarily. A man commits a crime, he should know better. We have him killed and we feel pretty good about it. Or we kill him ourselves and we feel even better. That's not power, though, that's justice. That's different than power. Power is when we have every justification to kill - and we don't. Goeth: You think that's power. Schindler: That's what the emperors had. A man stole something, he's brought in before the emperor, he throws himself down on the ground, he begs for mercy, he knows he's going to die. And the emperor pardons him. This worthless man, he lets him go. Goeth: I think you are drunk. Schindler: That's power, Amon. That is power. Amon, the Good. Goeth: I pardon you. AC:2nd Art: Schindler’s List
7. With the 2nd Article, Luther emphasizing the teaching of the word “Lord” for children’s meditation. Subtle shift towards redemption in later editions. Let this, then, be the sum of this article that the little word Lord signifies simply as much as Redeemer (Triglotta, 685) Christ’s ability to save is anchored in who He is and what His authority brings. What are our perceptions and misperceptions of “Lord”? Luther suggests that the defining aspect of Christ’s redeeming work resides in His place of sovereignty and glory. I will also redeem you with an outstretched arm and with great judgments. 7 'Then I will take you for My people, and I will be your God; and you shall know that I am the LORD your God, who brought you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians (Ex. 6:6-7) I have heard your prayer and have chosen this place for Myself as a house of sacrifice. 18. Into this grim graveyard of souls comes the Lord Jesus. He is the hero who appears at the 11th hour of the human race. He is the champion who walks out onto the battlefield on our behalf. He is the denouement to a tragedy that suddenly becomes a victory. He is different than we are, yet he is the same. He is the God-Man-- begotten of the Father from eternity and born of the virgin Mary. He loves us. He feels for our miserable condition. He is filled with desire to help us. So he confronts the jailer--Satan. He grips the chains--sin and death. He is not a private first class, a neophyte who is no match for such a formidable task. He is the Major General of God's military. He is the Lord. He has the power. He has the authority. He overcomes the enemy. He expels the jailer and all his tyrants as Luther so aptly describes it. He breaks the chains and bars and confinements of sin and death and all evil. He leads us out in the sunlight of his love, of his salvation, of his righteousness. We are free!
