Markus "Notch" Persson created the popular video game Minecraft after being inspired by another game called Infiniminer. He grew frustrated with his job at a large video game company and decided to work independently to develop his own games. Minecraft became a massive commercial success after its release in 2011, selling over 20 million copies. As a result, Persson became worth $1.5 billion and no longer owns Minecraft after selling his company Mojang to Microsoft. He now spends his wealth on luxurious homes and supporting charitable causes that help children. Minecraft has had a significant cultural impact and remains very popular among both children and adults.
This document discusses plans to develop an augmented reality fantasy game set on planet Earth with a different population of characters. It outlines market projections showing strong growth in the global games market, especially mobile games. It then describes the initial board game concept and prototypes, before explaining the decision to switch to an AR/mobile game to encourage community and patriotism. Monetization strategies are proposed to earn over $300,000 per month within 18 months by targeting 1 million gamers spending on average $10 each. Finally, the technical team is introduced with relevant experience in AR, mobile development and successful games.
Advertisers are constantly fighting for precious moments of consumers' attention in world with a vanishing attention span. It's simply not enough to broadcast; You must engage if you really wish to reach your target. The fight for eyeballs is rarely better illustrated than within a theater, prior to a movie. There, four inch screens litter the darkness, defeating it's monstrous adversary with apparent ease.
This presentation will show how in one two-day hackathon, we developed an entertainment model which stands to reverse the trend, allowing screen operators to win back the eyeballs, and the amazing loyalty and analytics which can be gained in the process.
We will also discuss the potential of this approach not only in theaters, but sporting events, festivals, seminars, conventions, and just about any other live venue.
Our Game = Five Minutes Joy outlines the principles, goals, and success of a social game company. The company aims to design short, 5-minute games for non-gamers to play with friends daily. Their most successful game, Happy Farm, has over 15 million installs and 3.5 million daily active users on Xiaonei alone. The company has achieved the number one position for daily active users and traffic in China's social gaming market.
GTA4 was released worldwide in April 2008 for Xbox 360 and PS3. The target audience was between 20-30 years old due to the adult content. Players control Niko Bellic, an immigrant who moves to Liberty City to start over but finds it similar to his homeland. Key features include driving, shooting, using a cell phone, and a wanted level for crimes. Extra episodes like "The Ballad of Gay Tony" and "Lost and Damned" were released offering additional missions. The game promoted synergy through its online multiplayer and coordinated magazine and trailer releases.
The document discusses board games and the board game industry. It notes that in 2008, while the overall toy segment was down 3%, board games grew 6%. In 2011, the hobby game market grew 20-25%. German households spend an average of €286 per year on computer games, and households with children spend €422. The board game business in the US is estimated at $700-750 million. The document then discusses the board game "Sandom - Europe" and options to publish it or virtualize it, before describing other games from My World Games like Urbanpolis, Organova, and Heroxia.

Securing your Kubernetes cluster_ a step-by-step guide to success !KatiaHIMEUR1
Today, after several years of existence, an extremely active community and an ultra-dynamic ecosystem, Kubernetes has established itself as the de facto standard in container orchestration. Thanks to a wide range of managed services, it has never been so easy to set up a ready-to-use Kubernetes cluster.
However, this ease of use means that the subject of security in Kubernetes is often left for later, or even neglected. This exposes companies to significant risks.
In this talk, I'll show you step-by-step how to secure your Kubernetes cluster for greater peace of mind and reliability.

Observability Concepts EVERY Developer Should Know -- DeveloperWeek Europe.pdfPaige Cruz
Monitoring and observability aren’t traditionally found in software curriculums and many of us cobble this knowledge together from whatever vendor or ecosystem we were first introduced to and whatever is a part of your current company’s observability stack.
While the dev and ops silo continues to crumble….many organizations still relegate monitoring & observability as the purview of ops, infra and SRE teams. This is a mistake - achieving a highly observable system requires collaboration up and down the stack.
I, a former op, would like to extend an invitation to all application developers to join the observability party will share these foundational concepts to build on:
Removing Uninteresting Bytes in Software FuzzingAftab Hussain
Imagine a world where software fuzzing, the process of mutating bytes in test seeds to uncover hidden and erroneous program behaviors, becomes faster and more effective. A lot depends on the initial seeds, which can significantly dictate the trajectory of a fuzzing campaign, particularly in terms of how long it takes to uncover interesting behaviour in your code. We introduce DIAR, a technique designed to speedup fuzzing campaigns by pinpointing and eliminating those uninteresting bytes in the seeds. Picture this: instead of wasting valuable resources on meaningless mutations in large, bloated seeds, DIAR removes the unnecessary bytes, streamlining the entire process.
In this work, we equipped AFL, a popular fuzzer, with DIAR and examined two critical Linux libraries -- Libxml's xmllint, a tool for parsing xml documents, and Binutil's readelf, an essential debugging and security analysis command-line tool used to display detailed information about ELF (Executable and Linkable Format). Our preliminary results show that AFL+DIAR does not only discover new paths more quickly but also achieves higher coverage overall. This work thus showcases how starting with lean and optimized seeds can lead to faster, more comprehensive fuzzing campaigns -- and DIAR helps you find such seeds.

A tale of scale & speed: How the US Navy is enabling software delivery from l...sonjaschweigert1
Rapid and secure feature delivery is a goal across every application team and every branch of the DoD. The Navy’s DevSecOps platform, Party Barge, has achieved:
- Reduction in onboarding time from 5 weeks to 1 day
- Improved developer experience and productivity through actionable findings and reduction of false positives
- Maintenance of superior security standards and inherent policy enforcement with Authorization to Operate (ATO)
Development teams can ship efficiently and ensure applications are cyber ready for Navy Authorizing Officials (AOs). In this webinar, Sigma Defense and Anchore will give attendees a look behind the scenes and demo secure pipeline automation and security artifacts that speed up application ATO and time to production.
We will cover:
- How to remove silos in DevSecOps
- How to build efficient development pipeline roles and component templates
- How to deliver security artifacts that matter for ATO’s (SBOMs, vulnerability reports, and policy evidence)
- How to streamline operations with automated policy checks on container images
