The document summarizes the key takeaways from an Art of Hosting training in Karlskrona, Sweden. [1] The training focused on participative working methods and getting people committed through conversation rather than hero leadership. [2] Participants learned that a host facilitates discussion as equals rather than leaders. [3] Art of Hosting builds a global community where conversations can spread worldwide. [4] Attendees had chances to co-host sessions and learn facilitation tools to lead meaningful discussions.

Monetizing Network Hospitality: Hospitality and Sociability in the Context o...airilmpnn
Paper presentation at CSCW 2015 conference.
Abstract below, for full paper, see: goo.gl/qxD1FO
For further publications, see: airilampinen.fi/publications
"We present a qualitative study of hospitality exchange processes that take place via the online peer-to-peer platform Airbnb. We explore 1) what motivates individuals to monetize network hospitality and 2) how the presence of money ties in with the social interaction related to network hospitality. We approach the topic from the perspective of hosts -- that is, Airbnb users who participate by offering accommodation for other members in exchange for monetary compensation. We found that participants were motivated to monetize network hospitality for both financial and social reasons. Our analysis indicates that the presence of money can provide a helpful frame for network hospitality, supporting hosts in their efforts to accomplish desired sociability, select guests consistent with their preferences, and control the volume and type of demand. We conclude the paper with a critical discussion of the implications of our findings for network hospitality and, more broadly, for the so-called sharing economy."

This is a Quarterly Business Review Template to be used by Customer Success Management organizations.
One of the most important activities your Customer Success Managers (CSMs) will perform is the Quarterly Business Review (QBR).
QBRs are sometimes known by different names – Business Reviews or Executive Business Reviews – but no matter what they’re called, they’re incredibly important and the agenda and flow are largely going to fall on the CSM, so it’s critical to help them prepare for, and perform QBRs, the right way.
The most successful Enterprise SaaS companies know that growing revenue only through new customer acquisition is the less efficient way to scale. Rather, they understand that growing revenue within your existing customer base - through up-sells, cross-sells, and expanded use - is the most profitable way to scale.
In fact, Enterprise SaaS companies that grow revenue - and company valuation - by expanding revenue within their existing customer base also know the key to making this work is to focus on - and operationalize - Customer Success.

This PDF document provides some summary notes from our presentation at the CPSI conference in Buffalo. You can also find our PPT from the session on Slideshare.
A couple of years ago we decided that our vision at Optimal Usability was to help transform New Zealand organisations into providers of world- class customer experiences. We quickly came to the conclusion that world- class experience is almost always across channels, and while we had done lots of projects with different channels, very few were about researching and designing the end-to- end experience.
This was about the same time that service design was gaining some currency as an umbrella term for cross-channel customer experience.
We figured that we really needed to bone up on what service design was, and how it applied to what we did. The resulting journey took us 3 years and we discovered a lot about how to “learn service design”. Some innovative approaches included spending 3 months doing service design on ourselves, interviewing CEOs of service design companies and conducting internal knowledge sharing sessions.
In this presentation I'll share our journey, our lessons and our mistakes; and give you some ideas that you can try.

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202

10 takeaways Art of Hosting
1. My 10 key takeaways
from Art of Hosting
training at Karlskrona,
Sweden
Experienced and written by
Henna Kääriäinen

2. huhtikuuta 12
2. 1. There is something concrete
in the circle.
• I didn’t go to AoH on my first chance at 2010
because I was fed up with sitting in a circle
and talking about unconcrete things, and my
fear was that AoH would be full of that.
Eventually I got over that circle overdose, and
nowadays I believe the participative and
conversational working methods are very
concrete, relevant and most efficient for
committing people to your projects. AoH
Karlskrona showed that once again.
2. huhtikuuta 12
3. 2. From hero to host
• At every possible moment in AoH training
there’s a request for you to stand up and
invite people to work with you. The idea is to
train hosts, while the sometimes popular
hero-leaders are not appearing, or should not
appear, in the room.
• A host is someone who ignites and holds the
space for conversation. Host is not a hero-
leader, but merely an equal with an intention.
2. huhtikuuta 12
4. 3. AoH happens in a global
context & global community
• AoH is a global network. Therefore the
conversations we’ll have in on our first AoH
Finland for example, will expand globally via the
international participants, the harvesting sites
and the online presence of the community.
• Examples of the global AoH are the 1000 tables
dialgues in Israel & all over the world using the
Art of Hosting practices.
2. huhtikuuta 12
5. 4. Every moment is a chance
to stand up and host
• Since the day one we were asked to co-host
sessions, eg. Open Space and Pro Action Cafe
together with the experienced hosts. Co-
hosting means that you have a chance to
learn how to conduct such an activity.
• Aside of that any participant could still stand
up and host a session in eg. Open Space or
Pro Action Café.
2. huhtikuuta 12
6. 5. The ”nugget” is our own
stories - bring up yours.
• The most useful thing for me in the training
was ur working with stories. We worked both
with our own stories in Appreciative Incuiry,
and also with others stories in a storytelling
workshop. My takeaway is that the world is
made of stories, not atoms. (like Mary-Alice
Arthur said)
• Storytellers work on the field of sense
making. It all makes sense when it’s
connected with a story. Stories lead the world.
2. huhtikuuta 12
7. 6. You’ll learn a bunch of new
useful tools
• Tools you learn for facilitating group dialogues
and for leading change are great, but in fact
they’re just a secondary value in the treat -
most important is that the gathering hosts
conversations that matter, and that you bring up
and host conversations that matter to You.
• As said in the point 3. AoH is international, and
the conversations we have eg. in Finland will
travel to the world via AoH community.
2. huhtikuuta 12
8. 7. It’s all about hosting
conversations that matter
• If you want to have a specific conversation
that matters or move on with your personal
project, bring it on the AoH.
• At AoH training you can ignite a global
conversation on the thing that matters. Because
on the network the conversations we’ll have in
one place will expand globally via the
international participants, the harvesting sites
and the online presence of the community.
2. huhtikuuta 12
9. 8. Harvesting gives a meaning
• Whatever you talk and do
with your project is in danger
to stay in the air and be
forgotten by your team and
community unless you pay
attention to harvesting it.
• Harvesting is something
taken out of any conversation
that gives a meaning to that
group.
2. huhtikuuta 12
10. 9. Give some of your skills to
the use of everyone
• Songs, poems, stories, videos, photos,
installations, situational photo
shows...anything can come and give a
meaning for the whole crew of participants,
and you’ll get to practice your practice as a
practitioner: win-win-win.
2. huhtikuuta 12
11. 10. Art of Hosting training
makes you know where are
you standing
• It kicks you to look into yourself, think about
yourself in relation to others and expose your
thoughts to others continuously.
• As a result you get connected with your
firmest position (in life, between projects,
physically) and find out how to stand there.
2. huhtikuuta 12
12. Art of Hosting training happens for the first
time in Finland in 3 weeks 23-25 April 2012,
at Otavan opisto, Mikkeli
Hosted by Toke, Monica & Piret and Ville
it’s sure a pure AoH at it’s core.
